Notre Dame Senior Dicks Around With Volunteers, Apologizes Later
I have no love lost for Notre Dame. Even as a Roman Catholic, I absolutely cannot stand the Fighting Irish. I loathe that my Catholic high school was lazy enough to have their cockeyed Irishman as their logo - merely flipped horizontally. And now I have even more reason to dislike the school.
Notre Dame senior Annie Brophy was in the midst of playing her round in the NCAA Central Regional. It was a round that seemed like absolute fire from the scoring tent, which showed her as having played the front nine in 30. Or at least that's what she told volunteers from Golfstats that reported Brophy's numbers to the scoring tent.
Even Brophy's coach thought, "No f'ing way." Brophy's stroke average in her career at Notre Dame was 77 strokes per round. 30? Yeah, right.
Assistant coach Kyle Lynne Veltri consulted with the NCAA rules folks armed with that belief and her early back nine showing quad, triple, and bogey on the first three holes of that side. By the 14th hole, Brophy was DQ'd.
UPDATE: Beth Ann Baldry has an update on the story, saying that Brophy has apologized for what she did.
“It probably wasn’t my best idea," she said. "I'm sorry for everything that happened."

Never mind her phone
being in the toilet….this type of thing has a way of putting ones reputation in the toilet….It may have been a joke when it started, but in the long run, is sure to backfire….too bad…but if her stroke average is/was 77 how in the heck did she make the squad….Are the rest all that bad?….STUB
I'm half-Irish, half-
Catholic, but hardly a Notre Dame fan. French name, but Fighting Irish? Sounds like some kinda Polish joke.
I’ve heard next football season they’re also gonna televise all their scrimmages.
Isn't this what they said
before the last coach?….Oh yea, it’s just that the games looked like scrimmages…..STUB
I'm still trying to figure out how to the NCAA...
Fighting Irish = good
Fighting Illini = bad

DQ'd
So DQ’d for unsportsmanlike conduct.
Local rule I’m assuming or can you be DQ’d for this in the Rules of Golf. I’m unsure of it now.
I think it’s a local rule.

So....
because one girl yanks a volunteer’s chain, everyone at the university are jerks??
i could not care less about Notre Dame but that is a little extreme.

Of course it’s extreme, but that’s my deep seated dislike of ND :)

A couple of comments...
Nice aggressive title for the post. I like it. Win McMurry would be proud. She didn’t just mess around with the Vols, she “Dicked” around with them. Ha!
Oh, TXQ, EVERY Catholic person is half-Catholic nowadays. Despite the infallible facade, no one ever seems to be able to crack the 75% mark. We follow the rules/commandments we like and ignore the rest. It’s great. :-p
Me too. I was lying, but that's only a
venial sin.
I'm checking the scale between venial/mortal.........
but I suspect that quip just cost you another 10 Hail Mary’s at least.
At least when we play football, we use our feet (apart from Maradona, of course).
That’s a common figure of speech, a kind of understating for effect. If you think that she wasn’t certain about it, then you would probably be wrong.
