Remembering the Crazy '03 Season With John Feinstein
John Feinstein is back with a new golf book. After recounting the story of Rocco Mediate's 2008 US Open run against Tiger Woods, Feinstein produced a book about the 2003 season which saw four first time major champions. The book is called Moment of Glory: The Year Underdogs Ruled Golf.
John and I spoke on the phone to talk about the book, the inspiration for it, and share some stories about Mike Weir, Jim Furyk, Ben Curtis, and Shaun Micheel.

You should give the guy a chance – I know you don’t like him, but at least there’s me there :)
Find me! Email: ryan@thegolfnewsnet.com, Twitter: http://twitter.com/waggleroom, or Facebook: http://facebook.com/waggleroom.
can’t stand him – he’s as predictable as John Grisham – in every book, he tries to figure out how to insert himself as an integral character in the story. The arrogance he displays during his appearances on xxx Golf Channel just solidify my opinion.
Let Rich Lerner read the book – they fit together. I will never contribute to his paycheck.

Then, Wendy, you'd love
“Tales From TXQ-School.”
(I had lots of fun in college.)
I'm sure you did;0)
Perhaps you could post little snippets from it on here so we can judge just how much fun you had. Not the X-rated bits, obviously.
Feinstein isn't a bad guy
We have met several times and I have no complaints. Me thinks court doesn’t like him cause he doesn’t always speak well of TW. Just a guess. Rich Lerner on the other hand. NO THANKS. He could use a new Hairpiece also. As much as TGC makes me nuts , the first episode of “The Story Of Golf” was really good. It’s also on DVD.

"pain is only weakness leaving the body"
I’ve read three of Feinstein’s books (liked his books on Rocco Mediate and Bethpage Black; couldn’t finish ‘Season On The Black as I can’t get through any book with Tom Glavine as a sympathetic character without retching) and regularly listen to him as a guest on the Tony Kornheiser radio show. I’ll probably read this book as well.
He is entertaining, but oh so sactimonious. And not just about Tiger (although Woods is currently his favorite punching bag), the NCAA is a regular target of his ire.
I’d listen to the interview, but I’m on line for the Dumbo ride at Disney right now.

Enjoyed “A Civil War” cronicling the ’95 Army and Navy football programs. I think CG opinion of him is influenced by his frequent appearances on NPR.
