Get A Hold of Fred Couples' Ecco Golf Street Shoes
If you've been concerned that Fred Couples is going to do a fakey 540 at Augusta National, wondering why he is playing in sneakers, or just want to have the shoes of a winner, Ecco Golf makes Freddy's shoes. The model is called Ecco Golf Street, and they finally hit the streets in the US this week.
They also come in a green/white Masters scheme
The shoes do look a lot like sneakers, but the nubs on the bottom of them are designed to act like golf cleats. They are more spread out and distributed so that the pressure on the frail back of a player like Couples is minimized.
Mike Wilson, Ecco Golf's Director of Customer Service, explained that the nubs actually increase traction - even in wet conditions- because there are more contact points with the ground, constantly grabbing and providing traction.
The design of the shoes is customizable is customizable in the UK, but in the USA there are three color schemes: black/red, brown/orange, and white/green. If you go to the Ecco USA site, you won't find the shoes because every shipment of the shoes that has hit the States since February has sold out almost immediately. The company has been inundated with calls about the shoes since Freddy started wearing them in January.
When the shoes are more widely available, they'll retail for right around $140. Interestingly enough, they are so comfortable that many of Ecco's employees double the shoes up as casual wear in the office. This week, they're going sockless in honor of Couples.

Do I detect a little corporate sucking up ? ;-)
well done ! I’m thinking those shoes and a Ryan Moore “tie tucked in” look could work for RB this year.
must be nice not to have sweaty feet and not have to wear socks. (lol)
