Around SBN: Kobe Bryant Isn't Up To Speed On Jeremy Lin, 'Linning'

Happy Easter! Two Players Could Resurrect Their Careers Today

In both the PGA and LPGA Tour events' final rounds today, the leader could be in a position to resurrect their careers.  Anthony Kim leads the Shell Houston Open alongside Bryce Molder.  After spraying the ball everywhere on Saturday, AK was still able to post a good round and maintain the lead.

Kim will be seeking his third PGA Tour win, but his first since being completely spooked in the final group with Tiger Woods at last year's AT&T National.  He has a runner up at the Honda Classic, showing that he well could be on his way back to good form.  A win on Sunday would clearly indicate that Kim is ready to resume his push to contend with Sean O'Hair as the best young American player on the PGA Tour.

Trailing the group at the top includes Jeff Maggert.  Maggert was Mr. US Open for several years in the 90s, with multiple legitimate chances to take the national championship.  A win today for him would also give his career new life - and a berth in the Masters.

Meanwhile, Karen Stupples holds a tenuous one stroke lead over Suzann Pettersen entering the final round at Mission Hills in the Kraft Nabisco Championship.  Since winning the Women's British Open in '04, Stupples has finished in the top three just once on the LPGA Tour.  With a win today, she would have a second LPGA major and enter a rare company.

WATCH: Ryan Ballengee spoke with Suzann Pettersen before the LPGA Tour's first major of the year.

Second place Pettersen spoke with us earlier in the week and said that she thought a couple under each day would be good enough to win.  That doesn't appear to be the case, but all three of the ladies that she listed as contenders this week are still there: herself, Cristie Kerr, and Lorena Ochoa.  Major champions Yani Tseng and Karrie Webb lurk as well.

Suzzan just got out played on day 4

I give full credit to Yani Tseng for a super day on Sunday and a big win. Pettersen came on strong at the end but was just one shot short. Ws Wie ? ahhh errrrr well she finished T-27th. Gosh the way the Golf Channel promoted Wie last week you would think nobody else had a chance. LOL

Even AFTER the tournament they didn’t let up on the Wie promotion. They went back and practically blamed themselves for her not winning…claiming she was “on the verge” of winning the Kraft. Please – she was nowhere near winning.

LOL true court

You noticed that to. hahaha Buncha bobbleheaded over-paid hacks over there. I got a kick out of Lerner reporting from the parking lot accross the street from Augusta on Saturday. I know the media and most others are not allowed in that early, but you would think the ONLY channel dedicated to the sport of golf in the USA would be made an exception. Goes to show you how much lack of credibility the Golf Channel has.. hahahaha

lol – well – it shows you what Augusta National thinks of the media in general…and some of their members ARE big wigs in the media. There are no exceptions made to the rules for media access. My radio buddy, Brian Katrek, played a tournament about halfway out to Augusta on Saturday, so he called to see if he could come pick up some things he was supposed to wait until Sunday to get. He got the old “thanks for playing – see you on Sunday” answer.

Then again – maybe ANGC said no…just because it was Lerner. :-D

Maybe so court hahaha

I’m headed to Augusta tomorrow morning with a full plate of work for the week. Hopefully I can get out on the course for the back nine on Sunday. I think I’m gonna pull for Ernie Els this week. he is waaaaaaay overdue to win the green jacket.

I would love to see Ernie in a green jacket. We had LPGA Tour rookie, and local Atlanta resident, Jean Reynolds in studio yesterday. She’s picking Couples. Both had decent final rounds in Houston.

Did you know that Nicklaus doesn’t have the most green jackets ? True.

Patty Berg

Yep – Patty Berg has more green jackets than Jack Nicklaus. The tradition of giving the champion a green jacket actually started with a women’s tournament that used o be held at Augusta National called The Titleists Championship – a winner’s only event where winners from that season made up the field. Patty Berg won it seven times.
