JB Holmes Caught Choking the Chicken on the Course

JB Holmes loves to grip it and rip it.  As one of the longest hitters (and slowest players) on Tour, the guy has phenomenal length.  He's a two-time winner on the PGA Tour - of the same event in Phoenix - and was a solid contributor in his home state of Kentucky in the '08 Ryder Cup.

Already sponsored by Yum! brands, Holmes is taking it to the next level.  He's got a KFC golf grip.

The Colonel - who is not in the store today - is featured on JB Holmes' golf grips.  He's now literally choking the life out of the chicken every time he swings.  It's all in an effort to promote Boneless Filet Box meals at the fried food HQ.  As his reward (aside from a ton of cash), JB has earned himself a year's supply of Boneless Filet Box meals that feature a sleeve for the sandwich so you can just push the chicken into your stomach.

Who were the ad wizards behind this one?

now now – we all know better than this, RB. The golf club is gripped like you’re holding a bird – firmly enough so it doesn’t get away, but light enough not to hurt it ! :-)

If JB's clubs could talk, they'd say

“How do I get out of this chicken outfit?”

I wonder...

if a PGA pro wanted to put a sponsor’s logo on his golf ball (outside the ball manufacturer, of course), how that would be received; if it is even allowed.

You’re allowed to decorate your ball any way you want. Remember Duffy Waldorf’s balls that his kids would draw all over ? Or Becky Brewer’s soccer ball looking decorations. Ryo Ishikawa has his face on his ball.

I don’t know how many guys would be up for something like that – prefering as plain a look as possible…or if their ball contracts would prevent players from it. The idea seems like something that would have come up before.

In this context,

shouldn’t he go with his full name of John Holmes?
