The Mechanic Fixes Euro Tour Andalucia Stop With His Wallet

If you thought the PGA Tour is facing issues in obtaining title sponsors and setting purses for its events in 2011 and beyond, then you haven't heard about what is going on with the European Tour.  The Open de Andalucia in Spain is this week's stop on their tour.  It has no title sponsor because of tough financial times in Spain, which is on the verge of sovereign default that would send the global economy into a tailspin.

The tournament has a purse of $1.3 million and is being played at all because countryman Miguel Angel Jimenez is underwriting all losses for the tournament.  Jimenez turned down an opportunity to play at Bay Hill this week so that this tournament could showcase his Andalucia.

The iceberg is starting

to rise up….More and more of the corporations/companies that did/would sponsor golf tournaments are having the boards of directors/stock holders standing up and saying enough already…worry about shareholder value first and the fringe stuff second…there isn’t enough dollars/euros, drachmas or etc. to do both…it’s world wide folks….STUB

I've always held The Mechanic in high esteem.

Even more so now. Well done, Senor Jimenez.

Hey gang, I want to take this

opportunity to wish OL EASY a very happy birthday…coming on Sunday, and ya know he’s watching the Euro Tour…As em pointed out, cause Easy’s wife is walking the course with him Sunday…Here in the colonies, that would constitute another player, and thus another greens fee…now, is she just going along, pulling/driving the trolley/carrying the canvas or what?…ya know, most of the lovely ladies I have had the pleasure to have an acquaintance with. do not, I repeat, do nothing for nothing…It’s kind of like the cold war with the Russians….Something is always on the table…Take this weekend for example…Easys BW probably went out and BOUGHT something fashionable to be seen with on the course…than, there’s the EXPENSIVE dinner Easy will have to pay for, and than, probably LODGEINGS for the evening…so you can understand that OL EASY has spent a ton on the weekend…and it’s his birthday…no wonder I dropped those things years ago…But hey, ya only go around once, so buds, I lift my glass to you and yours….Play well my friend….STUB

Loved seeing Miguel

in his “civilian” gear today – and with his hair down!

Easing had good weather for his round today – hope he had a great birthday. Mrs. Easing deserves nothing less that a decent bite to eat as a non-golfer walking the course. Burger or lobster, beer or champagne – we need to know.

Wendy, if Easy

didn’t spring for Lobster and Champagne, he is an inconsiderate cad…yes, inquiring minds want to know….Wait, what is this DESERVES business….I sense a female thing here..STUB

Heavens to Murgatroyd Stub

The lady works FULL-TIME. If she’s going to spend her precious time off walking a golf course, I think it only fair that she be fed and watered accordingly. I’d ask the same for Easing in reverse – honest!
