Ya Ni Tseng: Hotter Than Ai Miyazato?

Ya Ni Tseng just won the Women's Australian Open and she did it in style, blowing by Hall of Famer Karrie Webb and soon-to-be-Hall of Famer Laura Davies over the last 6 holes  In the process, Tseng denied the pair the chance for their 2nd win on the LET's Down Under swing.

In the last calendar year, she's earned 2 golds, 3 silvers, 2 bronzes (in the 1st 2 LPGA events of 2010), 11 top 5s, and 16 top 10s in her last 28 starts around the world. And as Tim Maitland recently pointed out, she weathered a big slump (by her standards) mid-way through it all.

How hot has she been since pulling out of that mini-nosedive?  Well, were it not for her T11 last week at the ANZ Ladies Masters, this win would have been her 10th-straight top 10.

I wonder who'd win a team match, consisting of Tseng, Ai Miyazato, and Ji-Yai Shin against Lorena Ochoa, Suzann Pettersen, and Cristie Kerr?

They'll all be going head to head (individually, of course) at La Costa pretty soon.  Can't wait!

Winning is special

10 our of 11 top 10’s is very impressive…but it’s not what you’d call “hot” without this win. Those are Tom Kite numbers, and nobody ever had him as “the hottest player on the planet” list.

“Hot” is one of those words that is like “happy” – it changes from minute to minute and can’t be held on to for very long. The hottest player on the planet is…….the player who wins this week. Miyazato wasn’t in the field this week, and Tseng had to shoot the lowest score of the week.

Stats of the week – there were only 5 rounds in the 60’s all week at this track. Only 9 players finished at par or better. Tough week for scoring.

Tseng was hotter than everybody on Sunday – and has been probably the most consistent woman golfer over the last 11 tournaments…but “hottest player on the planet” is a relative statement…and there aren’t many as hot as Tseng right now. I’d put that list at Miyazato…Tseng…and Laura Davies with her win last week and 2nd this week. Not bad !

Webby going 19 under on the weekend last week at The Aus Masters was pretty hot too.

Play it as it lies

I was hoping you were eluding to the woman's looks

Not her play. Dashed hopes. Now you’re going to make me Google her so I can see what she actually looks like.

I was kinda going to let this

slide by, but the more I thought about it, nope, gotta jump right in here…If you take her entire 2009 year, what do you see?…Look again…what you have is a STREAKIE player…Sure she will win, but not on a real consistent basis…out of the players you mentioned, give me Miyazato or Webb any day…Sorry, I’m afraid Davies is out of it…too many bad rounds…STUB
