Lefty's Pick for the Superbowl? The Saints, Sponsored by Callaway

Callaway Golf made a concerted effort to get its name back out into the public spotlight in a way that has nothing to do with wedges.  They bought 90 seconds of ad time to debut some of their new equipment.  And, as part of a sponsored segment on CBS' Super Bowl Today pregame show, Mickelson made his pick for Super Bowl 44.

He had two golf balls - one representing each of the teams in the game.  Whichever Mickelson hit further, that would be his pick.  (Given the age-old rumors of Mickelson's gambling issues and that his deal with Callaway was predicated on their paying his gambling debts, this only seems ironic.)

The team that won?  The Saints.

As for his attempt at a threepeat in Los Angeles, Mickelson finished T45 after a final round 73 shot him down some 27 places.

That snow storm must be worse than we thought…you watched the Superbowl PREGAME ?? Say it ain’t so !! :-D

Two things to be glad for: (1) that it wasn’t first ball in the fairway…you might still be watching…and (2) that Phil wasn’t in the CareerBuilder.com “Casual Friday” commercial.

That’s my favorite commercial from the first half – pretty funny that the Dockers “I don’t wear pants” commercial came right after it.

Can it Em,

I suppose your still parading around wearing that overpriced hat and shirt you bought at the NFL store….Congrats, good game….was anyone else watching Phil when they were showing his shots on TV??? Everything looked so lack luster, like he was just going through the motions….His eyes never reflected any fire….I was really disappointed in his play all 4 days….for #2 in the world, a sorry performance….STUB
