Forget Waldo, Where is Lorena Ochoa? Where Padre Fans Aren't
Several of the LPGA Tour's events do a nice job in promoting themselves on Facebook. The new event at La Costa in a few weeks is no exception. On their Facebook page, the Kia Classic Presented by J Golf is holding a contest each day for the next 28 days with the prize being four tickets. The challenge for this particular day was to identify where in San Diego County Lorena Ochoa is.
Open air grandstands? Unnecessarily high ivy? Baseball flood lights? It's Petco Park! Where no Padre fans go because their franchise is such an embarrassment that Phil Mickelson didn't want to buy into when given the chance!
My favorite part, though, was the explanation for the empty stadium.
Yeah, that's it. She could come back in the middle of July and it'd look about the same.

The Orioles lost only 6 fewer games than the Padres last year. How’s that glass house you’re living in?
Placebos, of course, are things you have to swallow even though they contain nothing that actually helps you. It's like American health insurance in a pill. -BiPM
I would’ve said the same thing about the O’s, gang. 12 straight losing seasons = no people at the ballpark.

D and I know that – but when you have a worse team than the one you’re writing about – it’s not good karma to pick on them…unless it’s the Yankees or Red Sox, of course. :-)

Trust me, when your 3B is your former SS now turned 3B who was outed for using steroids and very intelligently traded before that news hit the streets, we’re screwed anyhow :)

well – the position switch isn’t new – of all people YOU should know that ! You had the best ever – Cal Ripkin. What a ballplayer.
I’ve been watching the MLB network and they have a lot of good things to say about the team the O’s are putting together. Still young, but if they can keep their heads together while taking some lumps, they could be looking at some good seasons ahead.

Ripken ruled, but I got so sick and tired of watching Earl Weaver's
childish, repetitive routine of kicking dirt at umpires. Ryan, dunno if that entertained you as a kid, but now that the dust has cleared, surely it wouldn’t amuse you as an adult, no?
come on TX – Weaver didn’t do that every time – he saved it for special occassions. The media loved to play and replay it as often as possible. It was like Bobby Knight on ESPN – you’d think he threw a chair every time he didn’t like a foul call. Weaver threw some world class nutties – but I always liked how he turned his hat around backwards so he could get extra-close.

Okay, Weaver only kicked dirt at umpires during the
nine-inning games. Fair enough?
And sometimes he'd do so just to give his bullpen
time to warm up. And I base that on pure conjecture.
I love the young core of the team. Hopefully Tejada can contribute and Atkins can bring some power at the other corner.

What happened here?
We start out trying to find Ochoa, actually spot her, and than this whole post disintegrated into MLB? And who cares? I would rather sit and watch paint dry than spend 4 hrs in an overpriced seat, paying outlandish prices for any food or drink, and watch way over paid middle aged men swing wooden bats in an attempt to hit a thrown ball…..that said, bring on the girls….maybe they could fill the parks….STUB
Who said
I didn’t enjoy it…I actually had a tryout when I was 17 with the old NY Giants…got a minor league contract with a class D club…played one year, the next, when it came contract time, my Dad wouldn’t sign (you had to be 21 in those days)…said all I would be is a bum, I should learn a trade instead…how’s that for sharp thinking and how people felt at the time…Now, I could care less about MLB….too many problems….STUB
Moonlight ?
Moonlight Graham ? :-D
good point – and I should have known better since I say the same thing about golf and professional golf.

Handi,
you are probably right on, but at my advanced years, trying to recapture anything is a great effort in futility, and I opt for the good things, like food, charming ladies, good cigars, and lots of memories…well, everything but the ladies…and of course strong drink…:)…STUB
