PG-13 Golf Shows Coming to a TV or Computer Near You
Every epic golf movie - like Tin Cup, Happy Gilmore, Caddyshack, etc - has a running plot to it: the common man tries hilariously and desperately to beat the rich golf stereotype. In two of the three listed, the common man succeeds, everyone cheers, and those blasted WASPs are defeated. Though the plot sells like hot cakes (just like all of Will Smith's movies that do well are about him saving the planet from a terrible alien), it's a bit stale.
Enter two new forays into golf programming.
The first is called Of Course and it debuts on FoxSports.com on March 1. It's an animated series that details what guys talk about on the golf course. While I can sum it up - women, beer, and other sports - the antics are still fun to watch.
The other was brought to my attention by the Sportress. It is a show that has been optioned by Spike TV - of course it was Spike TV, they're to unfunny sports dramas what We is for wedding shows - called Back Nine. It's about a washed-up golfer's adventures in trying to return to the Tour.
Ok, so?
Well, it has Bo Duke from Dukes of Hazzard and the dude from Jawanna Mann. Oh, ok, then I'm sold now.
