Game Thread, Semifinals of WGC Accenture Match Play

We're down to our final four at the WGC Accenture Match Play - Ian Poulter v. Sergio Garcia and Paul Casey v. Camilo Villegas.  Currently, it looks like Poulter will win in a rout as he is 5 UP thru 9 holes.  Casey is 1 DN to Villegas in a solid match.

Good tournament so far

I think Poulter is going to have a great year. He’s way over due. I also heard today that next weeks tournament in Scottsdale is a Sold Out. Who says attendance is down this year. Golf is alive and doing quite well.

Just an observation Jumpn

but Scottsdale is always very well attended every year. I do agree golf is alive and well (always will be), but there’s no escaping Tiger’s impact on the sport.

who said anything about tiger sheesh

Honestly I’m getting tired of discussing that topic

Jumpn

to me it was rather clear you were referring to all of the talk about how Tiger being absent is leading to lower ratings etc for the tour. The “fringe fan thing” is something you comment on very often. If I was wrong, you have my full apology.

Yes I do

As half or so of the post we have to choose from to comment on are about just that. Just not this one. I’m hoping that now that the dust has settled we all get move forward and discuss this seasons " GOLF" tounaments.

As I said I had heard

After checking the “Ticket Master” site that you posted, you are correct. The general admission tickets for 25.00 are for wed-fri only , plus a ticketmaster fee, are available. Most ticket re-sell sights do buy up quite a few in advance for all sporting events. It’s great to see so many "Golf Fans’ supporting the tour.

I wish I could warm to Poulter

but I just can’t. (Met too many vain macho types like him). Looks like he’s going to win so good luck to him. Rooting for Casey now that he’s taken out my lovely Stewart.

Back to 2 down...

Glad it’s an all English final, whoever wins

I had a Westwood/Allenby final

so lost on my picks. I only go national for the Ryder/Walker/Solheim, etc, so would have been most happy for Cink to win. Prefer Casey, Donald & Olly to Ian, although realise | may be minority on this.

What was Sergio complaining about at the end of the match ? Sounded like something that happened all the way back at the 5th hole ?

Wendy, watching Great Britain Men’s curling playing USA right now… GB played Canada last night and it was the BEST game to watch (unfortunately, they lost on the last shot). There is some talent there!

Thanks for the reminder

Just switched over to Olympics. I missed the men yesterday (didn’t record it either, more’s the pity – maybe we’ll have highlights again ) but did get to watch the ladies earlier. How are you doing in your local league?

Thanks again, red tees

Just seen the men’s GB vs USA match!

I’m glad you got to watch! It’s been tough to watch USA…we’ve struggled, both men & women…and we’re out. It looks like the GB men’s team still has a good chance to get to the semi’s if they go win-win – but tough games ahead. Canada men & women have been strong – we’ll see what happens. Enjoy!

We got killed last Wed…but I feel a rally this week!! :)

GB controls their own destiny...

from what I’m hearing now…must beat a Tough Norway team with very distracting pants!! :-) I cannot see that game. I’m rooting for you!!!

Watching Canada men right now – just so good.

I’m watching right now!!! I think this is a replay from earlier today, but I’m rooting for you!! Murdock is looking a little shaky these first few ends, but he’s got the game, and we’re only in the 4th end. I’d love to see a rematch of GB vs Canada.

I yelled at my TV when Murdock tried the hard double instead of just taking one – GRRRRR!!! In the 6th end now down 3-5 without hammer.

Our league game went just like Murdock’s game…down to the last shot and the other team made it. crum.

Poulter got a drop

because of an advertising board Sergio didn’t agree with. No big deal.

by Easingwold on Feb 21, 2010 3:23 PM EST up reply actions

are you believing this ?

23 holes, a boatload of great shots, a bucket of bad shots mostly followed by really good recovery shots and a few mind blowing recovery shots…and we STILL don’t know who’s in the final against Poulter.

Poulter has to be thrilled with the situation…but I’ve seen this happen before. One guy SHOULD be dead tired – the other SHOULD be fresh and ready to go, but he ends up getting steamrolled in the final.

Poulter is looking good

3 up with 9 holes to go. It’s been a good tournament so far.
