Thee are 3 Par 5s left so don’t rule out Rory pulling off the unlikeliest of comebacks.

OK, I’m just a deluded Rory McIlroy fan…

How about Mike Wier’s start ? He’s 4 up through 5 holes over Quiros, and is 5-under through 5 on the score card.

The Sirius/XM/PGATour.com broadcast is up and running on PGATour.com. The link is kind of small, but it’s around the bottom of the main story box if you want to listen to the action.

Donald/Allenby

Both players are on track to win, setting up what would be a really sick second-round match.

If McIlroy loses, he’s overrated. Should he come back and win, he’s the best young player in the world.

Strage that…

Weir is HOT !

Can you believe the round this guy is having ? Now he has birdied 8 of the first 9 holes…and he bogied the 6th ! What a day.

9 o f 10 !!!!! And none have been conceided birdies.

Finally a par

Weir just carded his first par of the day. One par, one bogey, and 9 birdies through 11 holes.

I wish Quiros could hang in there and play all 18 holes to see if Weir could post a sub-60 round.

Didn't see that coming...

…Dustin Johnson falling to Villegas in the first round ? And Adam Scott beat Cabrera ? Brian Gay beating Kenny Perry ? Ok – that’s not too bad – Gay can really get hot any given day.

McIllroy has some work to do – he’s down 2 through 14…but he was down 4 earlier

Unless I missed it, GC announcers

gave little kudos to Weir’s play, so far anyway.

not surprising – the match was close to over when xxx GC was coming on the air – I’m enjoying the radio broadcast today.

Tiger Woods press conference tomorrow at 11

The XM guys are talking about word of a Tiger Woods press conference scheduled for 11:00 tomorrow morning. Not a lot of details yet.

I think these guys are babies nowadays – afraid of confrontation. (lol)

don’t you know that modern greens keepers would be more than a little peeved if the stymie was still in play and guys were chipping all over their greens.

Costner for Kohler ??

I’ve never seen this commercial before. Has Costner gotten so bad that he can’t even read a script and make it sound like he’s not in a coma ? I know he can’t act, but I thought he was a better reader than that.

"this ball will fit in that fairway"

by courtgolf on Feb 17, 2010 3:51 PM EST reply actions

An interesting Kohler fact:

Would you believe that Kohler remains a privately-held company? It’s rather rare to see a company with annual sales in excess of $5B stay private.

As for Costner: as long as he didn’t read the ad in any of his fake accents – British, Louisiana, Boston – the commercial might have at least been tolerable. Still, it’s a long damn way from Bull Durham, ain’t it?

UAHuntsville.

by turnover on Feb 17, 2010 4:09 PM EST up reply actions

I did know that about Kohler – what an amazing business story. I still like the story about the art colony his wife told him he was going to build in Wisconsin. :-)

The commercial is just awful boring. Costner just can’t act.- he screwed up all kinds of good lines in “Bull Durham” – he has to have a LOT of good talent around him to carry his movies.

Who says golfers aren't athletes !?

Ben Crane and Michael Collins are heading to the In-and-Out burger place later on – Crane’s order – 2 double cheeseburgers with a single burger with no cheese as a “chaser”

Now that’s a strong training table ! :-D

…or Wendy…or D…or redtees…or golfgirl……or Paula Creamer….or Natalie Gulbis…or….. :-)

I’m going to have to watch the gag reflex on this – but…Tilghman did point out something different about the press release on the yellow balls – that they were “designed” to put you in a more relaxed mental state. No idea about that, but it was the pearlescent yellow, not the old lemon yellow Top Flite color.

The XM guys just interviewed Clark – he calls it a green ball….apparentely the press release says it’s a “yellow ball with a green tinge”…lots of help for us nearly colorblind types.

"this ball will fit in that fairway"

by courtgolf on Feb 17, 2010 6:13 PM EST up reply actions

the point is not about being able to see the ball – it’s that this color helps to relax the mind. couldn’t you see how relaxed he was ? :-)

I agree with you that the yellow ball can be easier to follow, but the way I hit the ball, that isn’t always a good thing. :-)

Par 4 – 480 yards – has half a wedge left to the flag. Unbelievable.
