Around SBN: Ray Allen Fighting Age, Injury And His New Role

Congratulations.

And so, beer replaces coffee as the beverage of choice. A hearty congratulations to Wendy, Easing, and any and all other European wagglers. A great tournament, and a great win for the Euros - Monty, in particular.

The one statement I will make here about the play itself is that McDowell's putt on 16 was one of the greatest putts under pressure I've ever seen. Maybe the greatest.

I raise a bottle/glass to my friends across the Pond. Oggie oggie oggie! Oi! Oi! Oi!

This was

everything I love about the Ryder Cup and more. Congrats to the Euro’s indeed! But I would also offer hearty congratulations to the US team as well. They fought hard and oh so nearly pulled it off; simply tremendous. My thanks to both teams for providing me with some of the most entertaining golf I’ve seen in a very long time.

Fight for your opinions, but do not believe that they contain the whole truth, or the only truth.

Cheers lads !

Up again for work this morning, then 2 night shifts. I’ll raise a glass of single malt to you all tonight when I get in. Well done the Americans. I thought Corey Pavin spoke well in defeat and I hope he dosen’t get any stick back home. He did all he could. Apart from those rain suits of course. I like Mahan. He was upset at the end after his duffed chip, but I remember him 2 years ago when he came to the defence of Faldo. The better team won both times, the captaincy is important, but as we saw with Phil, yet again, it’s the players that hit the shots. Anyway, nice touch Turnover…cheers !

Thanks Turnover et al

I felt absolutely drained at the end – I had predicted narrow win for Euros of 141/2 vs 131/2 before it all kicked off as I never believed the US underdog theory – but you just had to make me suffer to the very last, didn’t you? The single malt did taste good.

I have played THAT chip shot to our 17th green more times than I care to remember, (& probably will continue to do so, STUB) usually when I think I have the hole in the bag (long uphill par 5 with decided advantage from red tee). SkySports replayed Mahan’s missed putt several times as the last shot of the match, but had the decency not to show the chip again. I choked up at Mahan’s i/v. From everything I have read, no-one is getting on his case – anyone volunteer to take that shot?

Fantastic playing by both teams & extra kudos to the US team for joining in the good-natured fun on the 1st tee.

As Court wants to claim the Welsh Oggie for the Aussies, we’ll adopt:

FOGGIE, FOGGIE, FOGGIE, OI! OI! OI! instead.

Wendy......Hunter should have never been

in that position. Your Stinky Cinky missed two short putts that would have given us the other 1/2 point we needed……but then he made a mile of putts the first three days, so you can’t blame him. I was playing in a tournament this week end so I missed almost all of the team matches, but losing 5-1/2 out of 6 points Sunday is where the cup was decided. I did get to see the singles and it was very exciting. Congrats to your team and your fans……they seemed to have a lot of class and respected the US team……all in all a great Ryder Cup.

The Saints ARE the SUPER BOWL CHAMPS....WHO DAT!

No finger-pointing, pls, STUB

(except at Faldo of course where the UK press has had a field day reiterating every mistake he made vis-a-vis Monty). You play as a team and win or lose as a team. I’m sure there were incidents of gamesmanship (actually Stewart/Rory had a few of them!) but nothing like I’ve seen in club tournaments. Two great teams – half a point either way says it all.
