It could be anywhere from mediocre to horrible. But that would only be the first three holes. To tell the truth, I don’t play much these days. I would like too, but I’ve sort of got out of the habit of it. I am however, playing next Tuesday at Laguna National with a very special person. He has to be, to get me at a golf course at 7 am on my day off. I’ll give you a clue, he’s small in stature, has a tendency to wear black and has won more than a handful of majors.

Chip...wow...I'd love to tee it up with him.

there are some in the game who have called him an over achiever..I find that an insult to him. Still love his stories. Post a pic if you can.

I am speechless

well, obviously not. Wow! I shall never address you again in such a familiar manner.

A classic case of it’s not what you know, but who you know, Wendy. I’m a lucky duck!

Very Cool.

Be sure to skip the first three holes…..:) Of course we all want a full report on, not just the round, but the whole day. I hope you have a GREAT TIME! Try not to Quack in his backswing…..lol

If I Ever Get Divorced or Widowed

I am done with the sport for good unless that redhead from Mad Men knocks on the door with bags in hand.

It’s not that I am against marriage or don’t like it, it’s just that I am too old to be trained again.

I don’t know about that OMP. It’s amazing what can be achieved with a rolled up newspaper and or a pat on the head.

LOL OMP

Sounds like you play golf to get out of the house and away from wifey. LOLOL

“Indisposed.”

by WendyUK on Oct 18, 2010 5:44 PM EDT up reply actions

Are you stating to one and all here

you have shown up on the first tee “indisposed” ? Tough as liver on Friday is an expression of endearment here in the states….The “Black Knight”….one of the best bunker players I ever watched…Love his story from the Old Nelson at Preston Trails…he was practicing bunker shots, and one of the members was watching him….I don’t know how many he holed out, or put close enough to nudge in, but the member said "Pretty lucky son….and Player replyed…Yup, seems the more I practice, the luckier I get….ya gotta love it…And C & P If we don’t get a pic of you two, DON’T COME BACK j/k j/k
lol lol…..STUB

by thinker on Oct 19, 2010 11:55 AM EDT up reply actions

There are quite a few RC players who admit

to being almost “indisposed” on the 1st tee – kinda like you in your lemon pants.

Pls. Chip – tell us all about it after your round.

Stub

I’ve no idea what he’s doing here next week. Maybe some design work somewhere in Asia? A very good friend of mine is connected to SAP and SAP is one of Mr Player’s sponsors. Breakfast, clinic, golf and then lunch at Laguna CC for a select few. I’m not at all “select”, instead , I just have rather neat friends! Court is of course, correct. The little fella was very little and cute as hell, so I couldn’t resist the pic opportunity. Feel better? Bit anticlimactic really……

Back to Greggy...

….you have to give the guy a break. He went insane and dumped his great wife for (gag) Chris Evert…..Lloyd…Mills. No telling how big her bank account grew with a pile or two of Norman cash. He finally came to his senses and kicked EverlLloydMillsNorman to the curb. Lets hope this one is a little more…human ?

Majors

’Cos neither will ever be on the breadline ;o)

by WendyUK on Oct 21, 2010 11:43 AM EDT up reply actions

Majors also

Faldo winning 6 made him super rich anyway. And he has built on that. Norman freely admits he was unfulfilled as a golfer. And it’s too late to get it back. A very rich man indeed, but many regrets on the course, that will haunt him for the rest of his life.

If I had my druthers, I

by thinker on Oct 21, 2010 1:42 PM EDT up reply actions

It’s a tough question to answer – Norman has worked his buns off to become as wealthy as he is….and you can’t take away Faldo’s hardware.

But Faldo’s success has led him where ? Sitting next to Kelly Tilghman two days out of every tournament he broadcasts. What is the poor guy being punished for ? :-D

"this ball will fit in that fairway"

by courtgolf on Oct 21, 2010 7:45 PM EDT up reply actions

Lol...

I hear you there..but ultimately, Faldo’s hardware has him at joint 12th in the all time major list over 150 years…Norman gets no mention with just 2. In other words, history is what the greats play for in the end.

by Easingwold on Oct 22, 2010 4:31 PM EDT up reply actions

true enough – but Norman had more fairways lined with women’s underwear than Faldo !

by courtgolf on Oct 22, 2010 6:42 PM EDT up reply actions

I’m guessing he threw the bigger ones back (wink wink) – or sent them to Tom Jones in Vegas.

"this ball will fit in that fairway"

by courtgolf on Oct 23, 2010 10:52 AM EDT up reply actions

Interesting that Norman gets more mentions

with 331 wks. at no. 1 with 2 majors, whereas Nick Price with 3 majors gets less kudos possibly because of 44 wks. at no.1?

by WendyUK on Oct 24, 2010 2:00 PM EDT up reply actions

Price was never the pretty boy poster boy for professional golf. He was quiet, and had a swing nobody really wanted to emulate.

Norman was a physical specimin. Women lusted after him. Men wanted to look like him and play like him. He was a swashbuckling figure.

And yes – 331 weeks at #1 is pretty darn impressive.

"this ball will fit in that fairway"

by courtgolf on Oct 24, 2010 7:42 PM EDT up reply actions

Agreed.

Everyone knows Greg was a fantastic player. He should have won 10 majors with his talent. The best driver of a golf ball ever. In majors, however, going for broke on every shot will cost you more that it gains. Greg, like Arnold before him, found that out the hard way, but that playing style won them many fans.

by Easingwold on Oct 25, 2010 4:29 AM EDT up reply actions

I guess I prefer the quiet type then

Norman’s dead-fish eyes give me the creeps! The only time I really felt for him was during that Faldo drubbing. Oh, actually I wished him well during The Open when he & Chrissie seemed so happy.

by WendyUK on Oct 25, 2010 2:20 PM EDT up reply actions

Anyone had to feel for Greg that day in '96

It was just about the final nail in his golfing coffin. Faldo too, never got over it either. Both men will forever be tied in golfing history for it..those 4 rounds Norman played that week just about summed up his whole career..brilliant, but couldn’t hold back when he had to.

by Easingwold on Oct 26, 2010 10:13 AM EDT up reply actions

Third time lucky?

Never know the truth behind these break-ups, but in this case can’t help feeling the children of previous marriages didn’t exactly hit it off with their respective step-parents.

by WendyUK on Oct 21, 2010 11:41 AM EDT up reply actions

Wendy...I was under

the impression, and corrct me if I’m wrong, that all the children involved were of the “young adult ages” If that’s true, very little parenting needed from the new spouse….right?…STUB

by thinker on Oct 21, 2010 1:48 PM EDT up reply actions

You're right about the ages, STUB

but they can sure as hell make life hell especially if they blame the step-parent for the breakdown of their parents’ marriage.

by WendyUK on Oct 22, 2010 12:55 PM EDT up reply actions

I prefer to think of it this way – Norman lost his mind when he took up with Evert-Lloyd-Mills and destroyed his marriage to a great lady. Then, he slowly came back to his senses and kicked her to the curb and now he’s trying to find a good woman again. (lol)

"this ball will fit in that fairway"

by courtgolf on Oct 21, 2010 7:46 PM EDT up reply actions

A great lady ?

How would we know ? A lady to be sure, but they broke up because they were no longer in love with each other. The fact that you don’t like Evert has nowt to do with it :)
