Bubba Watson Is Not Jealous of Golf Writers and Bloggers

Coming off of a red hot round of ten under par yesterday, Bubba Watson backed it up in round three of the Bob Hope Classic with 68.  He said that "was getting a lot out of my round today" and wanted to play better.

That said, when he was asked if he was satisfied with his round, he put it into perspective.

"[I'm] always satisfied. I'm playing golf for a living. I wouldn't want to switch with any of y'all."

From a writer, that solicited the response: "You're a smart guy."

You can’t be putting golf writers in the same category with bloggers!!! Yes we both “write”, but golf writers make a living doing it. Bloggers are a bunch of nameless hacks spouting opinions and speculations, politely and not so politely often libeling one another, never being held accountable for any of it.

There you go then..

It’s not such a bad word after all

Hey dianemarie...

I stole this from Rex Hoggard’s column at TGC, he quotes Bubba as saying…
“"I’ve been a christian for a few years now and I wasn’t acting like a christian on the golf course," Watson said Saturday. "It just wasn’t the right thing to do. I let myself down, my family down. It looked bad."”
…how dare he mention that he’s a Christian(although Hoggard or his editor didn’t properly capitalize the proper noun)! Go on over there and give them hell!

by niblic on Jan 24, 2010 1:09 PM EST reply actions

Uh-oh. I hope this

doesn’t lead to pro golfers’ looking up to the skies after a win and thanking God for His help, His backspin, whatever.

We get much too much of that from pro football players.

Boxers I can understand. God definitely has a hand, or fist, in those outcomes.

Hoggard ?

How does one do that crossing out thingy that you’re all so clever at?

Wendy

Look along the top of the comment box when you are typing in your salacious comments. There’s a B for Bold an…. I for Italics …..an S with the line through(the one your looking for). Highlight the word you want to affect and click on the letter. You can then preview it to see if it is what you want.

Ok, lets all try it now….1….2….3….GO! WHO DAT!

Will give it a go, but laptop screen keeps crashing on me at the moment.

Keep your fingers crossed for MY Saints match – grudge match against Portsmouth = Hampshire Derby.

Couldn't believe that draw Wendy

with what has happened the last few years, Harry, etc etc…will be a great atmosphere there.

Looked inevitable

Tough living in Portsmouth whilst supporting Southampton! Sorry for all Pompey’s woes though.

by WendyUK on Jan 26, 2010 8:56 AM EST up reply actions

So, when is the match?

The Saints are in the SUPER BOWL....WHO DAT!

by em66 on Jan 26, 2010 8:57 AM EST up reply actions

Not until 13th Feb.

Should be a pretty good match.

by WendyUK on Jan 28, 2010 9:06 AM EST up reply actions

It has changed a bit since those days, Easing

Most of the barracks/dockyards have been sold off for upmarket housing/shopping malls for example. As I live on the hill north of the city, I rarely if ever go into the town – and certainly not during Pompey’s home games!

by WendyUK on Jan 28, 2010 9:11 AM EST up reply actions

Bad news em66…I just bet the Saints…I thought you were going golfing?

ps. to dianemarie: on a positive note, some woman here just won the first ever Men’s PBA tournament…you go girl!

Hey dianemarie(or Easingwold);
Do you guys get ESPN on TV over there?

by niblic on Jan 25, 2010 1:50 PM EST up reply actions

I'm "over there"

if they can find a way to pick up Ohio and move it across the pond.

Wendy, I wish we could sit down over tea to trashtalk. Maybe someday.

That’s an interesting thought, em. I find some of the views you express here to be just this side of reprehensible, but I’ve never suggested you depart. I keep hoping you’ll tell me what it is you think I don’t get.

Truth has a well-known liberal bias.

by dianemarie on Jan 26, 2010 12:41 PM EST up reply actions

There ya go again....

I never suggested you depart…..you express a desire to go, so I was just trying to help. Obviously you didn’t appreciate it….lol. As for what you don’t get…..well let’s just say the list is too long to put on here, but then again you know the answer.

So, do you want the ticket or do I have to send back all the money that’s been contributed???

The Saints are in the SUPER BOWL....WHO DAT!

by em66 on Jan 26, 2010 12:56 PM EST up reply actions

(I’m guessing it was the “one way ticket” part, em – kind of means “go and don’t come back”)

"this ball will fit in that fairway"

by courtgolf on Jan 26, 2010 1:02 PM EST up reply actions

When you desire

to move an entire state, that would indicate a one way move. But, that being said, I did mean it as “go and don’t come back” and added the ever loving lol.

Let me add this....

I would have said the same thing to you or TXQ or any of the everyday posters here. It was meant in humor, but I guess it was a groaner…..or maybe someone is too sensitive???? Go Figure.

I’m sorry for starting this catfight….I confused dianemarie with WendyUK….where you from in Ohio, dianemarie? I’m originally from Toledo but I still have a sense of humor…too much snow and cold for you apparently.

by niblic on Jan 26, 2010 7:15 PM EST up reply actions

I'm willing to bet

that not a sip of this Kool-Aid has passed the lips of either of us.
Oh wait, did you mean LSD?

by WendyUK on Jan 27, 2010 12:07 PM EST up reply actions

My education continueth

You see, this Kool-Aid stuff doesn’t exist over here, and whilst I more or less guessed what this phrase meant from dozens of posts, I looked it up on Wiki. Back in the swinging 60’s (your heydey TXQ?) it had an alternative meaning….they used to put LSD (legal then) in the Kool-Aid and if you drank it you passed the “acid test”. Wicked, what?

by WendyUK on Jan 28, 2010 8:59 AM EST up reply actions

Damn!

I was all ready to swap Ohio for Wales.

by WendyUK on Jan 27, 2010 10:43 AM EST up reply actions

dianemarie is over here?

Drop by – we can trashtalk Court et al!

Nibs. We do get ESPN here in UK – I think it took over when Setanta went bust.

by WendyUK on Jan 25, 2010 2:00 PM EST reply actions

Thanks Wendy…did you see Kelly Kulick beat the men yesterday? Historic!

by niblic on Jan 25, 2010 2:54 PM EST reply actions

historic, yes – but I was surprised to hear that a woman had never beaten the men in a tournament – unless it was JUST for the PBA. Same lanes – same number of pins – limited possible score…and women have rolled 300 games.

Has the PBA been just men by rule until now ?

"this ball will fit in that fairway"

by courtgolf on Jan 25, 2010 3:03 PM EST up reply actions

I googled Kelly Kulick and she is the only woman to ever qualify for the PBA tour…she qualified last June but I’m not sure how many tournaments she’s been in so far.

by niblic on Jan 25, 2010 3:08 PM EST up reply actions

yeah – they had a couple of qualifying tournaments for the women to get spots in this PBA event. Guess she made it pay off.

Nope

Between Hope, Abu Dhabi & Australian Open (tennis) I was pretty busy!

by WendyUK on Jan 26, 2010 8:58 AM EST up reply actions

Of course the ladies have had the LPBA for some time and by rule, men can not bowl in their tournaments. Poor Chris Barnes…men being men, they will always tease him about being the first to lose to a woman

by niblic on Jan 25, 2010 3:10 PM EST reply actions

I had to read

the article again, just to make sure, but Yep, it is about Bubba….what’s with all this bowling crap….If Wendy and D want to watch, that’s all right, and you know that sometimes you just have to appease the ladies….(Easing said it keeps it quieter at home)…but lets keep this on track for Bubba…he doesn’t always get a lot of press…his wife didn’t look too shabby playing yesterday…STUB
