We are underway at the five round Bob Hope Classic. This is the 51st edition of the tournament and the first four rounds feature a pro-am competition with B-list celebrities. Golf Channel has the tournament at 2:30 pm & 9 pm ET. Jerry Foltz will join me on the premiere episode of the ninth season of The 19th Hole Golf Show later tonight.

oh sure...
NOW you put this up !! After Atlanta resident Heath Slocum drops a nice little 66. (lol)
There was a lot of talk early on about what weather, specifically rain, can do to a tournament like this – played on 4 courses spread out over a fairly wide area.
"this ball will fit in that fairway"
HEY...
I thought with all the discussions on the other blog, we decided to cancel this tournament???…why did Court have to throw that “Atlanta resident” thing in there….was he trying to intimidate us in our picks?…STUB
Well, I'd like to thank
Chad Campbell for big fat 79. And Justin, Justin…..what the crap happen? I leave to go play and you’re -2 after 3 holes and you coast in with a +3… I shot better today than 2 of my players ……These Guys Aren’t Good!!! Hey Stub….hope your guys did better than mine……..This is not a fantasy…..It’s a nightmare!
Saints are no longer killing me!!!!!!!!
I'm with you Em...
I’m not even going to look at the standings…awful…just awful.
I can’t decide if I should just pull Campbell today or give him one more chance?
I write about golf at www.tees2greens.com, too.
Mine went to Indio and
started at the in and out, and never did get to the course…does that disqualify them and can I pick all over? PLEASE….STUB
Stub.....go ahead, pick again...you can have some of my guys.
Chad Campbell is in 128th place…..which is better than 129th place….EXCEPT there are only 128 players…….hello…dead last by 2 strokes. Justin tore it up and is T117…..Good to see Shane Bertsch do well. He is from the Denver area and played the same course I played back in the mid 90’s. I remember him from the handicap listing for the men’s club. I started to pick him…..I’m glad I didn’t or he would have shot 10 over instead of 10 under.
Saints are no longer killing me!!!!!!!!
Chad Yikes
At least I had Pampling on the bench to back him up. Perhaps Chad should call me to get himself a new PING driver. ; O )
"pain is only weakness leaving the body"
Dad gum right.......I had Pampling too....but
I’m not putting Chad on the bench…..I’M FREAKIN STUFFING HIM UNDER THE BENCH!!! I know about that driver thing, as I hit mine a little better today, but it’s still killing me….shot 71 today and only had a couple of decent drives…..maybe a new driver is what I need!!!!
Saints are no longer killing me!!!!!!!!
I can't believe you guys!
No one picked Alex Prugh or Shane Bertsch? BTW – Is that pronounced “pro” ?
I picked Bertsch
But I started Goydos over him. How dumb is that?
Truth has a well-known liberal bias.
You picked Bertsch! Brilliant!!
How about a stock pick?
brilliant?
Nope, just picked a name off the list because I didn’t want to waste a start on someone with a chance to finish in the top three when the real season starts.
I thought about swapping, before the next round starts, but I decided against because I think he shot his one good round and will probably miss the cut.
Truth has a well-known liberal bias.
will you change your mind...
if I’m right about Bertsch missing the cut? 8-)

That’s pretty impressive, diane, even if lucky :)

You picked him and didn't start him........
doesn’t that just torque you? I’d rather just pick four guys and live and die with them than have to second guess myself. But, I guess having a bench allows me to throw Campbell under the bus and put someone else in. This is very stressful…..lol
Saints are no longer killing me!!!!!!!!
I benched Campbell this morning. I wasn’t going to, but Briny Baird plays the Nicklaus course today and that seems to be where many lows scores were coming from.
Is the cut still Friday, or with the pro-am format is it different?
I write about golf at www.tees2greens.com, too.
I'm not sure.
I think there is the possibility of missing the individual cut and making the team cut and having to “stick” around…..but maybe I dreamed that….lol
Saints are no longer killing me!!!!!!!!
I spent a fair amount of time.
On the Caddy Bench when I was younger waiting to get picked for Loops. "Put Me in Coach’ ’ “I’ll Play Right Field”.

I don't want to dick squat
from any of you Terminators…..None of my picks even showed up at the course, know why?…THEY AIN’T FRIGGIN GOLFERS….seems they all work the grill with Macer at the white castle flippin hocky pucks….names not even on the board….an ya all wonder why I have a drink or two? ..AARRGGGG!…STUB
Some stats
to share with y’all whilst traveling through the evil forest…..The average golfer walks 900 miles a year….the average golfer drinks 22 gallons of alcohol a year….that averages out to 41 miles to the gallon….better than most hybrids…..ya gotta love it….STUB
Sorry on the stats thing,
my shaking fingers hit some bad keys….here they are….the average golfer walks 900 miles a year….the average golfer drinks 22 gallons of alcohol a year…that averages out to 41 miles per gallon…better than most hybrids….ya gotta love it….STUB
Course Tour
Check out this cool interactive tour of SilverRock Resort, one of the host courses for this year’s Bob Hope Classic!
I never drink alcohol
on the course, so assume STUB’s drinking my share. Might have a little drinkie or two on the 19th, but can’t see that in the stats.
be careful
about assuming Wendy….I think Easing might be helping me…an if your walking around the clubhouse, that’s part of the 900…there, that should take care of your self rightchesness..hahaha…STUB
Still a round 1 thread.....
It’s Friday and we should be looking forward to the third round of the Bob Hope Desert Classic, but nooooo! Like the PGA Tour and this tournament needed another poke in the eye! As a refugee from golf course maintenance and a two year resident of the Coachella Valley I can tell you last night was an ugly one for Superintendents and their crews. Golf courses in this area are miracles of technology. There’s very little “natural” habitat. And what looks like natural habitat is also man-made. When nature interferes it wreaks havoc! The temperatures are cool and water evacuation is a very unpleasant task. There is no loamy topsoil. It’s ALL sand for miles and miles and hundreds of feet deep. Drainage isn’t a big problem, but every bunker will wash out and need attention, and most of it will be “shovel work”. But in the absence of golf we’ve got sex addiction, Bill Clinton and Marion Barry to talk about.
Last Night
I was jonesing for some golf and clicked on to the Golf Channel to see the repeat of round one of the HOPE. Not only was TGC running the repeat, but they did a Golf Central Live talking heads all through it. Good Lawwwdy do they need some new studio help. Tod Lewis introduced Tim Rosaforte as the “Best Cranium” in the golf business. eee gads. I also learned by watching that Michael Breed from the Golf Fix doesn’t even drink coffee as he says he is naturaly cafinated. “Brilliant Stuff” Court Golf was correct with his comment a day or two ago saying that there was to many break in golf lessons by Mr. Breed during the broadcast. I totaly agree. So after a painfull 20 minutes of watching this drivel and very little golf I switched over to watch the sitcom, “The Office”
"pain is only weakness leaving the body"
Who knows, maybe there will be a round 2 thread...
They’re playing! I’m pulling for Alex Prugh because I haven’t a clue how his name is pronounced. I don’t need golfers whose names I can pronounce to enjoy the game!
Watson is ahead by two...no, not THAT Watson...
The Hope looks to be on schedule to be a four round tournament. I found out it’s “pru” as in the beginning of the word “proove”, and Alex plays PINGS! Gotta root for him!! And the other Watson, he’s doing OK in Hawaii.
has that been decided ? the talk after the first round was a Monday finish
