How PGA Tour Players Ride (and Celebrate) in the Skies
Golfweek's Alex Miceli files a brief, but intriguing look into how a few PGA Tour players got back to the mainland after the Sony Open. Among the passengers was Sony Open winner Ryan Palmer, who got a little too celebratory for one lady in first class.

Ok – Micelli has officially gone back to “asshat” status. I met him briefly at the Tour Championship this year and he seemed nice enough…but stuff like this just goes to show that a professional “journalist” can’t be trusted with anything.
Best part of the article ? The first response where he is taken to task for blabbing all of these things after patting himself on the back for respecting the player’s privacy.
This piece is full of snotty judgements that show us that Micelli is a jealous, petty little man who just has to try to knock people down a peg because they do things he can’t.
And seriously – does he REALLY think that Howell JUST found out that his wife is preggers ? She’s been that way for four months, Alex….or can’t you do the math ?

I’m willing to bet a lot of money that Miceli spoke with these guys on the plane to see if it was ok to write about the plane ride.

I doubt that – they know who he is and what he does – and it doesn’t matter what they may or may not have “agreed to”, this is cheap shot material intended to put down Palmer.

I didn’t read it as a cheap shot at all. If anything, I thought he put down whoever it was that asked him to keep quiet.

Really ?
Didn’t notice the tone of Micelli’s reaction to the things Palmer likes and likes to do ? Didn’t notice the backhanded compliment to his favorite movies, especially “Dumb and Dumber” ? (telling someone to not read to much into that is the same thing as telling someone to not think about elephants, knowing that the first thing they will think about is elephants)
Micelli didn’t say what the annoyed passenger did or said when she found out why Palmer was in such a good mood, just that the F/A told her what he had just done.
“Celebrating with the same zeal he used in winning earlier that day” – he was toasted.
Palmer “loves to watch movies and TV shows over and over, to his wife’s dismay.” Writers love to put down TV watchers, believing they are less intelligent than a writer.
Then, to close, he tosses in the thought that Palmer isn’t bright enough to set his watch…“and then went back trying to set his new $40,000 Harry Winston watch he received from winning Sony.” Is there ANY reason to mention how much the watch is worth ?

Being serious
for a minute…just wondering why the guys going to California didn’t get together and have a private jet…not like they couldn’t afford it….just won 900 grand and a 40k watch…STUB
private jets are expensive to start with – but a one way trip from Hawaii is extra expensive…especially when you already have first class tickets in hand. They would have to pay to either come pick them up in Hawaii – waiting at least until Monday – or find one in Hawaii where they aren’t quite as readily available, then pay to fly it back to Hawaii. $900k (pre taxes) doesn’t last very long if you spend it that way

BUT COURT !!!!
First time customers always get a fair discount, providing that they sign on for the entire season. { ; o) And luggage as well as peanuts are always free.

Court,
net jets isn’t that bad, and if 3-4 split the tab, probably very reasonable…cuts out a lot of the airport hassle too…STUB
we’re not talking about a regular net jets flight on the continent. They would be paying for the flight from the mainland, then back to California, plus hotels, etc. They wouldn’t be able to get back before late Monday and Palmer is in the field this week. There is more to a flight than just grabbing the keys and heading to the hangar.

Not necessarily,
the jet could be coming from anyplace, they drop people off, and head to the next pickup spot…in this case Hawaii…So they get in sometime Monday morning…no big deal, sleep on the plane….no different than if they went commercial, only better for scheduling and less hassle at the airports…In the field this week….doesn’t start until Wednesday….Ya gotta sacrifice some place, sheesh!!!…STUB
