At Least Natalie Gulbis Didn't Screw Up Knowing Which One Was the FDR Monument
As we mentioned the other day, the Solheim Cup team was in Washington, DC, to take a tour of the White House, meet President Obama, and enjoy the nation's capital. Avid Twitter user Natalie Gulbis was posting photos on the service as the ladies - looking good, by the way - were touring the city. One problem: she didn't always know where she was.
Shane Bacon picked up that Natalie posted a photo with the caption: "Michelle and I with Lincoln Memorial in background."
Um, that's the Washington Monument, as the second person to comment on the photo observed.
Now, in Natalie's defense, the Washington Monument is one of few monuments to presidents that does not have a statue of the honoree sitting in plain view of it. Maybe she thought since Abe Lincoln was so tall (he was 6'4", Washington was 6'2") that it had to be his?
But, at least she didn't screw up which monument was Franklin Roosevelt's.
And I demand to know when the John Tyler monument is forthcoming.

Vincent ‘Vinnie’ Antonelli: You know, it’s dangerous for you to be here in the frozen food section.
Shaldeen: Why is that?
Vincent ‘Vinnie’ Antonelli: Because you could melt all this stuff.
(very underrated movie)

Pfff.... snow is so yesterday
Even in NJ, we had almost 2 feet and it’s mostly gone. There are still some of the huge piles that were made from all the plowing, but we had an epic rain storm on Christmas day that washed most of it away. The rest has been hanging on because of a cold snap, but it’ll all be gone before too long, I think.

Don't worry, you'll get more
With long range forecasts calling for continued below normal temperatures on the eastern seaboard, it looks like the summer golf season will be well earned.

Yeah, not a big fan of that. Before winter arrived, they predicted it to be more harsh than normal. We’re supposed to have temperatures in the 40’s for the foreseeable future and some rain, so maybe those piles will get whittled down. I can accept the snow this time of year. I hate it when spring it starting to come around and then we get a March or even April blizzard.

Wow D,
I have a tee time for 1pm today…66 in Big D (TEXAS THAT IS)…Court….I would have thunk ya was too busy to go see movies…Hey Wendy, Easing, sorry about that weather thing…there is a saying in the USA of Texas, that if you don’t like the weather, just wait a minute and it will change…Remember, we were in the deep freeze just a bit ago for 8 days, and I noticed whilst having my libation(s) last evening my hand was still shaking…I would say the “ladies” were having a good time on their tour….Ahhhh, youth….STUB
And we all expect...
…that you’ll be standing on the first tee announcing “This is for you, Waggle Room !!” :-)
Long and straight Stub – have a great round (ya bastich ya)
"this ball will fit in that fairway"
I've waited a minute
and nothing has changed. I never thought I would begrudge anyone a round of golf, but ………I do – I JUST do. T’ain’t fair. Picture small person lying on floor, pounding feet into carpet, fists screwed into eyes, howling. Ah, just been given a big glass of “medicine” – that’s better.
just hit me...
…when the heck did we put up an FDR monument ? Where is it ? Doesn’t look very big – is that just a part of it ?
"this ball will fit in that fairway"
It’s surprisingly big. It’s kind of like a walking tour of parts of FDR’s life. Here’s the website about it: http://www.nps.gov/fdrm/index.htm

It would have been ironic...
…if it was built as part of the New New Deal.
