Nike Golf VR Str8-Fit Adjustable Woods Will Allow Tour-Style Customization

Vrstr8fit_medium

In December, I went down to Nike Golf's the Oven facility in Ft. Worth, Texas, for a tour of the place and to be fitted for a complete set of '10 Nike equipment.  One of the things that I didn't mention was the fitting for the metalwoods.  My choices were between Nike's square-headed Dymo line and their new Str8-Fit line.  It turned out that I performed best with the Str8-Fits.

When the Str8-Fit driver came out, I tested the equipment and was very positive about it.  That driver had eight different positions with variances in lie angle and how open or shut the clubface is at address.  That club also had a limited pool of potential shafts to use with the club because the technology is new.

Starting at the end of this month, the Str8-Fit technology has been extended to fairway woods as well.  The adjustability of the club has been beefed up as well.  There are now a staggering 32 positions for the shaft, set using the same wrench that provides tactile and audio feedback.  Nike Golf has also developed the capacity to turn almost any shaft into one that could fit a Str8-Fit club.

It struck me as overwhelming when grasping the idea of having 32 distinct options for lie angle and face offset.  But, as Nike Golf's Brad Simpson put it to me in Ft. Worth, the additional options will allow a player to tweak with a club to the same degree that a professional might want to in order to achieve a specific aesthetic look.

The clubs will retail for around $300.  I'll be doing a review of the equipment once it gets shipped to me in the next few weeks.

Very cool ! I’m betting the Nike tent in Orlando is going to be filled to capacity on Demo Day.

tell the truth – you asked them if they had any irons to match your classic set of irons you played with this year :-)

(shouldn’t you be watching the basketball game ? another excellent ACC battle, but the Terps are down 3 !) (and how does that Vasquez kid keep from getting punched in the face every game ?)

Court look at the nose,I’m sure he’s been hit a few time.

I always think of Vasquez as our version of JJ Redick. He’s really good and you’re glad he’s on your team, but if he played anywhere else, you’d wish death on him.

what would he do if someone from the other team tossled his hair and messed up that silly looking haircut ? (lol)

TWO POINTS !!!!!!!!! STOP SHOOTING THREE’S !!! Two Terps standing by themselves under the basket – tie the game up and go to a second OT.

Court.....Aren't you glad you're not a Tennessee fan.

Kiffin leaving after one year is sure to make him the most hated man in the state. I’m surprised he would go to SC, as all the conversation around here that Carroll was getting out before the NCAA comes down with heavy penalties for both the BBall and Football programs. I see UGA signed Smart from Bama…..that was a “Smart” move. (sorry) :)

oh – Kiffin is the most hated man in Tennessee right now. I can see the courts today – “yes your honor – I murdered 10 people today…but sir…I’m still not Lane Kiffin”…“case dismissed”. (lol) USC’s going to have a lot of problems – Carroll bolted from the mess he made, and Kiffin is bringing in a whole new batch. He had 6 secondary violations this year…and 7 wins.

Smar’ts not coming to UGA. He turned down the offer.

My bad....Last I heard it was a done deal....Saban

probably threatened to send Guido to visit him if he left. I never was impressed with Kiffin. He seemed to be just a “little” arrogant. Good thing about him going to SC…..I can still hate them…..I was hoping they wouldn’t hire anyone I liked….lol

forgot to mention – one of the local sports talk stations has been calling places up in Knoxville this morning to see what people were saying about it. They called an IHOP and a Waffle House. The Waffle House call was hilarious. People wanted to slash tires, tar and feather him…one guy said that his father is talking to his lawyer about a possible legal action.

Kiffin is useless. He has six infractions against the program anyway for the Tennessee girls that escort recruits. I’m not sure how he landed one of the most money jobs in college football, but he doesn’t deserve it.

I agree with you there – hard to believe that a school like USC would knowingly bring in a coach like Kiffin for all that money.

The six secondary violations – the girls showing up at an off campus party with “recruiting” signs was one he was excused from. The girls did that on their own. Kiffin still has the six secondary violations and a boatload of other smaller violations and a lot of embarrassing audio from his big mouth.

(don’t kid yourself – every major school has the hot chicks to escort recruits around campus – but a few go past the friendly welcome wagon girls) (wink wink)

He should fit right in at USC.

Give Kiffin a couple of years and we may be hearing “Death Penalty”…….tooooooooo bad.

Court.....So, I'm out playing yesterday and testing out a couple of new

dirvers (not nike) and I come up to a hole that gives me fits. Biggest fairway on the course, but somehow I manage to screw it up most of the time (mental thing). I’m standing on the tee looking at the vast fairway and out of nowhere I announce….“this ball will fit in that fairway”….the guys I’m playing with are then rolling on the ground laughing. I guess it was funny, but I was serious…..go figure!

NICE !!!!!

Bet that made them stop laughing !

The phrase is from a teaching pro friend here in Atlanta who has been our Georgia rep to the PGA 4 of the last 6 years (nearly made the cut twice). It’s sort of his mental mantra to remind himself and hist students that this game isn’t as hard as we make it sometimes. The ball also fits on the green and in the hole. :-)

I'm still planning

to use that line about “Guess it was a bad lie” when someone tees off badly on our par 3 1st hole. Just got to be careful who I use it on.
