Scrabble: The New Hot Clubhouse Game on the PGA Tour
How about Scrabble for iPhone? According to John Maginnes over on PGATour.com, the competition is hot and heavy with a lot of trash talk. I'm not an iPhone owner, or any other of the smart phones for that matter, but this does sound kind of fun. I know about apps, but I didn't know you could connect to other iPhones via the interweb and let the sparks fly.
What do you think? Could there be a PGA Tour iPhone Scrabble fantasy league around the corner?

Gawd,
I hope not…I carry a cell phone (circa ???) only because my sons bitched about not being able to contact me when I left the house (that was the general idea)…it made my ears tired and I capitulated…Will NOT be purchasing anything else in that tech direction…STUB
Oh bother
Just lost a bet with myself that Court would post the first counter-argument.
Scrabble of any kind should only be played on skiing hols. IMO
Me too, Wendy.
And I bet the ranch. Luckily, I own two.
ya know ? I try to bring a little joy into your snowbound, left side of the road driving misery…and this is the thanks I get…well exCUUUUUUuuuuUUUUSE MMEEEeeeeeeee :-P

Hah! I think both Wendy and I
flew right by the byline and figured the post was written by Ryan, not you, Court. Thus the replies. Gotta admit, most golf bogs do indeed run counter-Courtwise.
Still snowing - scrabble gaining attraction
Well, we’d have to have an R&A/USPGA set of rules to begin with. The mind boggles. Don’t make it too technical though pls. Spelling would be the least of our worries.
See – I can be on topic.
Had the same problem in most of europe...feels wierd when you try to shift gears with the hand near the door, lol
lol – ok – I get the picture. Similar problem switching from a standard shift to automatic transmission – the left foot keeps looking for the clutch on the floor.
Flew into Manchester and drove up to Dundee. Stopped at a little place called Iron Hills (I think that’s right) and played a little course with hickory shafts and gutta percha balls – very fun. Stayed in a little hotel in Braughty Ferry and took day trips – St Andrews, Carnoustie, Aberdeen, played Crail, took a tour of Edinburgh, played the last day at Southerness then back down to Manchester. Wanted to stay !

I loved Crail..
I have gone up to Scotland many times, although I didn’t start golfing untill I was 33. Played 7 open rotas, St Andrews twice, but somehow Crail ( and North Berwick ) get me as much. Hope you enjoyed Crail as much as I did…the 5th on Balcomie is one of my all time favs…I have to play there again before I hang up my spikes. And the pub near Gulaine..what used to be the old clubhouse…must go again
It was one of my favorite’s too. Loved looking north and seeing “Dracula’s castle” – and it was the first time I had ever had a burger with Stilton cheese. Isn’t that where the Well of Olaf is, too ? So many things to remember over there. They gave me a book on the history of the town and the course.

I still have that book.
there is a picture of Peter Thompson in the proshop, he desighned a course at St Andrews and goes to Crail a few times. What a view from that clubhouse.
well – the 8 day trip was about….oh….30 years too short
got to play Carnoustie with a member who was a friend of Hogan’s – they met at the Open and kept in touch until he died. lunch in the clubhouse was a bit of a surprise – in that dinky little building across the street.
"this ball will fit in that fairway"
Played Carnoustie after they built the new clubhouse.
it’s nice, but I kinda like the dinky ones…did you have a pint in the Jigger inn on the 17th at St Andrews ?
The Hotel where you drive over on the 17th
( it used to be the old railway sheds) is very modern. The Jigger inn dates back to the 1850’s and many pros playing the Open have had a pint there. The whole town does it for me golf wise…one of my golfing mates hates links golf…I think he is missing something special…he has been golfing 40 years…and never been there. But he would love to play Augusta of course…wouldn’t we all.
Easing,
I think it was Humphrey Bogart who said “play it again Wendy”…Court, right about the grass…Whistling Straits has something similar…STUB
Don't believe they
brought grass over…It’s just something about the proximity to the links (water) i think that makes it different than our normal bermuda, rye, blue, etc…maybe the way it blows in the wind….just something different…STUB
Well,
back from the course, where I proceeded to embarrass myself….no, I said embarrass, not wet…EM 260 down the middle?? hell, I can’t even see that far…I need a forecaddie just to keep track of where the ball went…I must say tho, I did myself proud with the golf cart….drove like I was at the Indy 500…really only thing good about the whole day…shot 40, and it felt like 40…As I get older, some days it feels more like work than pleasure…weather to turn lousy again tonight, ..rain the next 3 days…I hope the second green drowns…lousy 3 putt…Ahh well, Will fix my elixir of the gods, about 3, sit back and reminisce of days gone by….STUB
