The Fact That East Lake Is Playable Is Amazing
In the days leading up to the Tour Championship - particularly on Wednesday - players were quoted as saying how surprised they were that East Lake was in as good shape as it was. With anywhere between 12 and 15 inches of rain in the weekend prior to tournament week and a ginormous lake prominent to the property, some awfully soggy conditions were expected. They played the ball down yesterday and the course looked great.
But, to give you a sense of how big of a change happened in just a few days, Rob Matre sent me photos from his golf club in Atlanta. Ansley Golf Club's first hole normally looks like this:
On Monday, it looked like this:
On Tuesday, they were playing golf.

Ansley is SUCH a nice golf course. I didn’t even think about it when all the rain was coming down – lots of streets, creeks, and low lying ground for the water to spill over and collect. Luckily, there are also a lot of ways for the water to drain.
Did Bob sneak over to the Bobby Jones Golf Course up the road ? Peachtree Creek weaves all the way through it, and the streets create kind of a bowl, so when it floods, the water just sort of sits there like a big swimming pool.

Shocking!
Truth has a well-known liberal bias.
