Billy Andrade is a "cooler"

I've been listening to Billy Andrade call shots following a couple of groups today - he's done a pretty decent job...except when he says something outrageous. He was following Scott Verplank, who was three under through 9, then said "when you think about ball control, this is the guy you think of", which isn't really an accurate statement. Verplank is a great player, but he isn't the first name on my mind for ball control.

Back to the story - as soon as those words were out of his mouth, Verplank half shanked his second shot at 10 and made bogey, followed by two more bogies at 13 and 14, and looking at another at 17.

The same thing happened when he made a similar statement following Stewart Cink - followed by a similar string of tough holes.

Stick with yardage, lie, and club, Billy - if this is truly a "curse" you're carrying around, the guys won't want you around anymore ! :-)

you how long it took me to figure it was Billy Andrade’s voice. When they would call him “Billy”, I thought, “Billy Haas”? Boy, what an idiot I am. And I am a certified golf bloggerator person.

don’t feel too bad – I had to think about it myself – and Billy used to be a regular guest on our show until he figured out that we were jinxing his tournaments. (there is still a bottle of Champagne waiting for him at The Palm for when he wins his next tournament)

Yes, court, I devised the

GBP Certification for those having golf blogs. It is pretty doggone comprehensive. To date, I am the only one who has passed this test. There are too many amateur non-certified golf bloggerator persons out there. It is a stain on those like you and I that represent the pinnacle in golf journalism…
