How Sad: Even Sports Superstars Congratulate Each Other Like Bloggers Do
Tiger Woods picks up a win at Cog Hill on Sunday, thanks in large part to a course record third round of 62 on Saturday.
Roger Federer practically locks up the US Open with a three set mashing of Novak Djokovic in the semifinals.
Annika Sorenstam takes time out of her busy schedule being a bazillionaire mom to tell them that they both did a great job today. From her Twitter:
Two great champions show of their talents today. Congrats to Tiger & Roger. They both make it look so easy !
This coming from the greatest female golfer of all time. Who made it look easy.
That kind of compliment can only come from one other group of people: writers. More specifically: bloggers.
We do it a lot. When we comment on posts (and plug our websites). When we retweet with "Great post!' in front of it. Or, with a a link. I mean, we're all pretty freakin' great, so we have earned the kudos. But, it's nice to see that the greatest athletes of our time crave and dole out social acceptance in the same modest way that us lowly bloggers do.
Hey, wait a second. Tiger and Federer follow no one on Twitter, right? So, how will they get the message? That's like what I do when I think I'm cool and send Dan Jenkins a Tweet telling him that he's dreamy.
