Mickelson Leaning to Playing in Presidents Cup
There has been some chatter about the uncertain status of Phil Mickelson for the Presidents Cup in a few weeks at Harding Park. Provided the breast cancer treatment that both his wife and mother are undergoing, even Captain Fred Couples was not totally certain that Mickelson would participate. It appears, though, that Phil is leaning toward playing.
Old Man Par caught this report in the SF Chronicle that details Phil's thinking right now.
Phil Mickelson, unable to commit to the event because of his wife Amy's breast-cancer treatment, is leaning toward playing in San Francisco. He also might bring Amy, who hasn't made a public appearance since her diagnosis in May.
That's fantastic news. The support for Amy Mickelson is pretty much universal despite whatever has been said or rumored about Phil. Even if you're no Mickelson fan, the implication that Phil will play because his wife's condition has improved is something to be celebrated.
