Golf is struggling right now.  People are not as willing to make those equipment purchases.  $400 for the newest driver just doesn't sound appealing with the unemployment range hanging close to 10%.  So, like all kinds of other retailers, Golfsmith is trying to drive some customers their way with a little incentive.

Here's their deal: buy $125 worth of stuff at any of their retail stores and get a voucher for a free round of golf.

From their release:

Golfsmith International Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: GOLF) announced that starting today it is giving away 25,000 rounds of golf with any purchase of $125 or more in all of its 74 retail locations across the country.

So, go buy three dozen Pro V1s and you'll get a free round of golf to lose them.  It's a great deal.

And, it's a lot better of a marketing tactic than Homer Simpson's efforts to drive bowlers to the Bowl-A-Rama.
