Pics of New Titleist Irons - Conforming to New USGA Grooves Regs
Last week, the good folks at Titleist contacted a bunch of bloggers and writers to provide us with a sneak preview of some of their new iron lines coming out toward the end of this year. There are four iron models. They are AP1, AP2, CB, and MB.
Three of the lines are new - AP1, CB, and MB. Titleist offered a little bit of info about each.
The new AP1 irons offer better feel, more forgiveness, and an improved shape, particularly in the short irons.
The new CB and MB irons are traditional 1025 carbon steel forgings, available in full cavity back (CB) and muscle back (MB) models.
They also talked about improvements to the AP2 line that include better feel, improved shot control, and ground control.
After the jump, we have some pics of the new iron models to whet your whistle.
The AP1 and AP2 irons together.
The AP1 irons by themselves.
Now for the forged clubs. First, the cavity back model.
And, then muscle back model.
We'll have more info from Titleist on the iron sets in the fall, but wanted to pass these along.

Looks pretty much like the Titleist line for a long time – except for the AP irons, of course – just a few years old.
The title says that they conform to the new groove regs – but the new rules only apply to clubs with more than…what…24 degrees of loft ?
Not that we would be able to tell a difference from the pictures, but I’m pretty sure the grooves don’t affect the back side of the club. :-) Did they send you any of the faces ?

That’s right – the regs apply to 5I and above, basically.
I do have some of the faces, but they look extremely alike and nothing close enough to detail anything about grooves.

lol – not a thing wrong with a good set of Pings ! I wouldn’t mind playing with a nice set of Eye 2+’s.
You still have to be a pretty decent ball striker to play with these Titleist irons – even with the more modern cavity backs on the AP irons. We had the local Cobra rep on last weekend. Titleist kind of ships the young hotshot high tech designers over to Cobra and lets them go wild with designs – and when the technology gets to be mainstream, Titleist infuses their classic Titleist line with some of the Cobra design work with the look of a classic Titleist iron.
