17 Year Old An May Win US Amateur & Become Youngest Winner In History
During this phase of professional golf where fifty-somethings can nearly win major championships, the amateur world appears poised to crown its youngest national champion ever.
Korean Byeong-Hun An is one match away from winning the US Amateur. He defeated Bhavik Patel 3 & 2 in the semifinal match to advance to the final against Ben Martin.
If An is to win, he would surpass Danny Lee - last year's US Amateur winner - as the youngest champion in the history of this storied event.
It wasn't easy for An. In fact, he trailed in his semifinal match at Southern Hills in Tulsa, OK, as late as the 13th hole. At that hole, he started a winning streak of four straight holes to close out the match.
His opponent tomorrow in the 36 hole finale, Ben Martin, closed out his match today with a 5 & 4 win.

great event
You’ve got to love the US Am even though it has basically become a collegiate event. Not nearly enough guys like Tim Jackson in the field. The money to be had on Tour is just too great for high-level amateurs to resist.
Yeah, there are way too few Buddy Maruccis anymore.
