Scotland: Land of Whiskey & Great Golf Courses
At this weekend's Johnnie Walker Classic at Gleneagles, workers from the parent company that makes the whiskey - Diageo - are protesting in an attempt to save 900 jobs from being slashed due to the closing of a bottling plant.
(They want to move the operation to another town, adding 400 jobs, for a net loss of 500.)
One of the protestors gathering petitions, Jassy Smith, had this - in part - to say to the BBC:
When people around the world think of Scotland, they think of wonderful whisky and great golf courses, of which Gleneagles is the best there is.
You bet I do. I have a bottle of Macallan 18 at my house. And as I told a friend of mine on Facebook, it is like drinking delicious gasoline.

Aye, Laddie, In This You Are Correct
I am sipping a nip of Aberfeldy’s right now, watching the rain chasing the afternoon’s golfers to the clubhouse. It’s been a long week.
