What Was With Cristie Kerr After Her Match on Sunday?
The Cup had been secured. The USA had won. Cristie Kerr wrapped up her match with Maria Hjorth in a halve. Kerr was then interviewed by Golf Channel about winning. Instead of her first comment being about winning the team competition, Kerr was miffed at teammate Christina Kim.
Kerr said something to the effect of: On 18, I saw Christina running in back of the green as I hit my approach shot and I kind of shanked it a bit. Kinda bugged about that, but we won, so I'm happy.
What's with that? Throw the teammate under the bus after the win? That wasn't cool in my book. Perhaps it was just the moment of losing that whole point, but that bothered me. Given the pre-tournament press comments below, I hope it was just that: heat of the moment.

I think CK went
over the top a few times with excessive cheering. As a teammate, I might have been embarrassed on a couple of those occasions. But, Kerr should’ve just shut her mouth. If she was embarrassed about Christina, tell Christina (or not). If it was only the I “shanked it a little” part, I don’t think Cristie has struck every other shot in her life perfectly, and her team won, so just shut up…

sometimes keep things private?
I agree with Vince. Tell CK you had a problem with whatever she did in private.
Bingo, talk about it afterward in private – not with Val Skinner to a Golf Channel camera.

Kerr was perturbed with Kim because she was running around behind the green when Kerr (and her opponent) were trying to play into the green. She wasn’t out of line for being miffed – but calling her out in public probably was.
Remember a few years back at Hilton Head – Davis Love III backed off 3 or 4 times when an official kept walking back and forth behind the green at 18 – he wasn’t happy either.
"this ball will fit in that fairway"
Yeah, I can get why Kerr was bothered, but talk about that one on one.

Kerr may possess the most decorum on course, and rightfully is the first one to be miffed when things happen on the course, but when it comes to her attitude and dealings with the media and press after all is said and done, she still the snotty kid she was when she was a rookie.

ZING!
I know golfgirl has done some work with Cristie and finds her pretty engaging/solid, but I just can’t get over how she deals with fellow players and the media.

I’d actually put solid money on Cristie being super engaging and wonderfully down to earth when dealing with her one on one. She seems like someone who, you’d just have to know.
So, I’ll give her that, I guess.

Maybe that’s true. I’ve never had a one on one with her – just going off of anecdotes and observations from how she deals with others.
