Thank You, Juli Inkster, For Not Being Brett Favre
After Juli Inkster made a massive comeback to halve her Sunday match with Gwladys Nocera at the Solheim Cup, I tweeted that her walk off of 18 was likely her last as a player.
That hug between Mallon and Inkster was a knowing one. That was likely it for Juli at Solheim.
Then, not two minutes later, Inkster confirmed my suspicions by telling Golf Channel that this was it for her.
``I'm not doing a Brett Favre,'' she said after her round. ``It is. I want to come out and watch. It feels great with all the young talent. I had a great time.''
Good for her. As the most prolific Solheim Cup player ever - earning 19.5 points for the American side in her career - Inkster deserved to go out on top. Her comeback was inspirational and exciting. And she leaves the stage as a player with the certainty that she'll come back as a captain.

Geez – can’t you leave the lesbian comments out of anything ? (lol)
Was there anybody who really thought that Inkster would be playing on the team again ?
The comment that surprised me was from Laura Davies – not interested in being a future captain. who wouldn’t want her as a captain ? She’s a bulldog competitor – and throws a mean party !

Lesbian comment? You’re reading too much into things after the Creamer mustache paintjob, haha.
That is pretty surprising about Davies. She just looked defeated after blowing it against Lang.

lol – just kidding about you and your lesbian tendencies…that “knowing hug” thing…
the defeated look kind of goes with…well…being defeated. she wasn’t happy with how she played on Friday – definitely wasn’t happy about being left out on Saturday. But the non-captain comment was from Saturday.

That’s just bizarre. She’ll come around on that one when she misses being a competitor.

Just slightly off topic but...
Why is Farve coming back to the NFL…again? Ego? Something to prove? Thinks he can contribute? other?
I live in MN and have had to endure this as “the hot topic” of the past week and a half. It seems to me that of the people I know, about 30% are happy, 30% are NOT happy, and 40% don’t care…

I think it’s more about fear. Brett probably doesn’t need the money. Ego factors in, but the overriding motivation is once he’s not a pro football player he won’t have anything to do. I don’t believe he’s articulate enough to be in a broadcast booth, so when his playing days are over he’ll have nothing to do but hang around the house. That must scare him more than a linebacker and strong safety converging on him.
Truth has a well-known liberal bias.
