U! S! A! U! S! A!: Solheim Cup Open Thread
With the Solheim Cup going on this weekend, seems only logical to have an open thread for comments, questions, and updates. I'll post updates from LPGA.com and television as I see them and we'll keep the thread going all weekend. This way, everyone can lament, cheer, and cry together. (And we'll cut compress all of those "OMG! Golf Channel said that?!" posts into here so it's easier to talk about that, too.)

The Action
Day 1 - Morning Four Ball
11:52AM: Have to say that I'm surprised to see Pressel and Wie playing together. I thought for sure that Kim/Wie would be the Sergio/Jesper of the Solheim Cup. They're down 1 after six holes. We get a glimpse at the two power teams as Creamer/Kerr take on Pettersen/Gustafson. The matches are split down the middle right now in terms of leads. 2-2 so far.
3:45PM: MERCIFULLY we end the morning session with Wie causing a to-do about asking to declare ground as Ground Under Repair for relief. The match ends in a halve anyway and the Americans finish the day morning at 2.5-1.5

Streaming Coverage...
For those of us stuck at work and have no access to a TV, a small treat in that the golf channel will be streaming coverage on their website from 1:00-3:00CT. Two hours is better than nothing!!
I’ll be sure to post the link when that’s ready to go.

FYI court, I have to approve commenters as they go, so I was away from the computer and didn’t get to approve you yet.

aww geez – he has one job to do…. (lol – ducking)
I wonder if the odds for the Europeans have improved at Ladbrokes ?
xxx Golf Channel will be starting their streaming coverage just when the first round matches are finishing – they aren’t exactly playing fast.

Yeah, the delay is really going to ruin the first half hour of streaming.

Their TV coverage is scheduled to end at 2 eastern (right now) for PGA Tour coverage – so they’ll get some of round one and the start of round 2. The rest of the matches won’t be off for a while…except for the “joyless” Davies and Brewerton match. (lol)

Are they still showing the coverage on the golf channel and delaying the PGA coverage? There is no link on their web site to the streaming coverage – so it looks like I’m out of luck! DANG IT!
Yes – it’s still on TV – I’m really surprised. Usually they jump to the PGA Tour coverage as fast as possilble. Good for them.
Streaming Coverage will start when the afternoon foursomes start – a little after the last match ends…which may be about 8:00 tonight. :-) It’s going to be at least an hour from now.

Thanks for the update...
I wonder if they will stream for 2 hours or just until the PGA coverage is over? I’m guessing the latter , which means we might just get to see an hour or less online.
Wie and Pressel are all-square after 13. Sounds like a tough match that the US team has been fighting to stay in, at least from the looks of the scoreboard.
Well, well, well, Court….Wie is saving Pressel’s rear end right now. She’s kept them one-up the last three holes while Pressel is bogey/bogey/bogey.
yep – she hit a few shots when the Euros fell off kilter.
SIX HOURS AND THEY AREN’T DONE !!! Ridiculous.
I think Rankin was insane for saying that Wie was “smart” for not listening in on the rules discussion in the 18th fairway. Guess she forgot that it was Michelle Wie – WHILE IN COLLEGE – who said that reading the rules was boring. The same Wie who doesn’t know how to take a proper drop…and has trouble remembering to sign her card. I want Wie standing next to Morgan Pressel and Beth Daniel and especially Alison Nichlolas and the rules official who are all VERY sharp with the rules. (well – that rules official gave a pretty lame explanation for not marking GIR in the middle of the fairway because they didn’t think anybody would be there – huh ?)

She should know the rules like the shoes in her closet, no doubt about that. There’s no excuse for a pro to not be able to plead their own case or make an interjection when they feel it appropriate.
Reading the Rulebook, well, it IS boring. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t. Especially when you make a gazillion dollars playing the game.

Where's TXQ when you need him ?
I’m thinking “SLOW-heim Cup hopes for Thursday finish” :-)
"this ball will fit in that fairway"
I think he has moved his pun operation exclusively to Steph’s blog, though if you’re reading TXQ, would be happy to have them here as well!

TXQ is the best and I discovered TXQ..!!
A few months ago, I was reading a blog post and a comment was signed “Nada Clue” (with a C). I forget what the post was about but I answered I was going to steal the name Nada Clue. TXQ started commenting on my blog and his puns are first class. Not only funny, but tuned in politically and socially. He has since come up with about 200 great names.
For some reason, he got angry with me and I am trying to apologize.
He is an asset to the golf blogosphere…

Is Paula Creamer the only
one who has painted American flags and other patriotic symbols on her face this year?
