Chicagoland Golf's Phil Kosin Has Died
Some pretty sad news for me this morning. From Geoff Shackelford's site, I've learned that Phil Kosin - host of the Chicagoland Golf Show on 670 The Fan - has died from complications due to cancer.
Phil was an astute fan of the game. The guy had a voice that could resonate with people and an opinion to broadcast with that voice - on almost every golf issue.
I was fortunate enough to be on Phil's show in the early spring. We talked about slow play, the golf industry, and growing the game. It was a pleasant chat and we were both looking forward to having some time on the show again. I was hoping to have to pleasure of having him on The 19th Hole for those of you that were not familiar with his work.
Phil's last entry on his blog is from July 27, in which he says:
The Ringmaster has been under the weather the past few days. He is back part-time, a little worse for wear and in need of some recuperation time.
I'm certain sad to hear of Phil's passing and I know the golf community that knew him is in mourning as well.
