Ummm…since when can you get a shot “out of your system” in golf ? Just because a thing happens one week doesn’t mean it won’t happen again the next shot…or the next hole…or the next round…or never again.
How often do you want a bad shot sticking in your short term memory…much less your long term memory ? Good shots build confidene…bad shots kill confidence. As good as these guys are, even they can be affected by things like this.

Paddy said after his 64 on Thursday that he didn’t take a lot of confidence from the number. He wanted to play consistently, and if he won, then great. That’s why I say he can get it out of his system. He won’t really keep this with him because he held it together so well for 71 holes. What he got out of his system is the big number.

Ok – you completely lost me there. What he was saying was that he can’t get too excited over one very good, low round because of the way he has played since last year’s PGA.
So – are you talking about the round on Thursday or the 16th hole on Sunday that he was “getting out of his system” ?
Oh – he kept it together for 69 holes – that’s through 15 on Sunday.

He said he couldn’t get excited about his round on Thursday. He was getting what he did on 16 out of his system.
He kept it together for 71 total holes – just 69 in a row :)

so they were two completely different items, but you’re talking about them like they are the same ? I agree on the 64 – completely disagree on 16.
(somehow, I don’t think that explanation would get a passing grade in a stats class) :-D
