Has Morgan Pressel Found Her Fire & Her Game?
Is it possible that all the whining Morgan Pressel did last week after getting her hair wet actually did her some good? Has she finally found the fire that made her such a stud amateur ? The nuttie she threw in the 18th fairway at the US Open when Birdie Kim made her miracle bunker shot was almost worthy of Sergio, but she showed that she was a competitor who doesn't like losing.
Of her two wins, the one at Kapalua was more impressive to me than the major she backed into because she actually beat the field. Then she decided to make some swing changes to try to add some length and spent the '08 season giving up 30 yards off the tee from years before.
But her final round today at the Jamie Farr really impressed me. She looked relaxed and confident all day, even when she dropped a couple of bogies on her card back to back. There was no quit in her today, and it got her a miracle eagle pitch to tie for the lead and get into a playoff.
She came up short in the playoff, but I think she has made a few of the other ladies on the tour sit up and take notice. No more Miss Nice Girl. No more pouty little golf brat, either. She seems to be figuring the pro game out the same way she figured out the amateurs.
I like this Morgan Pressel - a lot ! I want to see it more often!

she's finally got all parts of her game going at the same time
First her ball striking came back, but as she said in interviewslast week, she had to get distance control down. Lately she’s been putting great. It’s a lot easier to be in a good mood when you’re playing well!
