Beth Ann Baldry on the British Open and Korean golfers

For someone who covers the LPGA for a living, two things she wrote today have me shaking my head.

Sleeper: In-Kyung Kim. Can a player who has already won an event in 2009 be considered a sleeper? She can if she isn’t a household name.

Kim is in the top 5 money winners for the year and top 10 players in the world by the rolex rankings. Because no one has heard of her, doesn't make Inky a sleeper. It actually means fans and sportswriters don't know anything about the LPGA.

BTW I am picking Inky to win the British Open.

Plus, the odds are in Kim’s favor. Korean players have won three of the last seven majors.

Actually that's factual but not precise. The Koreans have won three of the last five majors. Both the last two U.S. Opens and last year's British Open.

Beth seems to have a problem with the majors. Last year she mixed up the British Open and the du Maurier. She also couldn't get Paula Creamer's win total right going into the 2008 Kraft Nabisco.

Has Beth been hanging out with Ron Sirak of late?
