A Look at Golf's Greatest Major Championship Disappointments
Remember that episode of the Simpsons where Homer and Bart watch the TV special "Football's Greatest Injuries?" Well, in that spirit, Shane Bacon looks at golf's greatest major championship disappointments. Take a gander and see what your favorite is. Or come up with one of your own!
The beauty of golf is that its majors are a one tournament thing. They often come down to a stroke or two. This is golf's version of: the Buckner play, the Jeffrey Maher incident, the Immaculate Reception, the Music City Miracle, and LeBron's half court three pointer in this year's playoffs.
And, as a reward for reliving all of those terrible incidents, I present Football's Greatest Injury - Joe Theismann.

yeah – that was pretty rough – but ol’ Joe Thees-man (yes – he changed the pronunciation of his name in college to rhyme with Heisman) got his revenge – he’s been torturing us from the broadcast booth ever since. :-)
personally – I’ll take the Gale Sayers knee or Joe Montana back as bigger losses to the game – not as gruesome, but much bigger losses.
LeBron’s half court shot was just a one game thing – it eventually didn’t pay off.
