Come for the Journey Concert, Stay for the Tour Championship
After having its Tour Championship be meaningless in deciding the winner of the FedEx Cup in each of its two years so far, the PGA Tour is hedging its bets in Atlanta this season. They're offering a package for golf fans to buy tickets to the Tour Championship at East Lake AND get to see a benefit concert by Journey!
The PGA Tour and Ticketmaster have announced a joint ticket promotion for The Playoff Finale of the FedExCup, THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta. Multi-platinum rock band Journey is teaming up with THE TOUR Championship for an exclusive concert on Saturday, Sept 19. Fans have the opportunity to purchase limited VIP packages that include access to the Playoff Finale, as well as tickets for a concert by Journey to benefit the East Lake Foundation, one of THE TOUR Championship’s primary charities.
Don't stop believin' that the FedEx Cup is going to work out just fine this year! (I actually think the tweeks may make it end well this year.) Get your tickets now!
And, enjoy this karaoke video version of Journey's monster hit.

The Tour Championship has been sold out every year since it was given a permanent home at Eastlake GC. This is just an added bonus. (and a bit of a take off from Phoenix and the musical extravaganza arranged by The Thunderbirds)
The tournament committee has taken the economy into consideration and is selling sets of tickets directly through some of its charities so they get full benefit – Coke and the Southern Company have also stepped up to keep the tournament atmosphere at the same high level it has always had at Eastlake.
“hedging its bets” – pretty funny.

The TC has a lot of local support for sure, but I just find it funny that they’re adding in a Journey concert for a golf tournament. Especially after the tournament landed with a national thud in the past couple of years. That’s nothing against the ATL, though, or Todd’s great work.

Would you prefer Tom Jones ? Chamillionaire ? Lynard Skynard ? (asking for trouble in that neighborhood)
Here’s the thing – the concert is local appeal only. Who cares what the nation thinks ?
You don’t seem to have such a bad attitude about the concert after Phoenix. And the only reason the Tour Championship gets such bad reviews from the shallow end of the pool is because of The Fed Ex Cup. The TOURNAMENT has been very good both years – but people in the media only focus on the big cash prize. Instead of just busting on the Fex Ex setup – they say that the tournament was a waste of time – completely missing some great golf.

Completely agree about the FEC holding the Tour Championship back. Woods crushing a defenseless East Lake and the field, then Villegas pulling out his second win in a row. Those were good events.

Woods wasn’t the only one who played great golf 2 years ago – he wsa just the only one who did it all 4 days. The scoring record was set by Zach Johnson – not Tiger Woods.

History remembers the winners – very rarely the also rans.

Ryan, I don't think
our group appreciates music like we do. I’ve done a dozen Billboard 100 number one hits from past years and not a comment. Great Journey song. Like I told Stephanie, it was a truly spiritual journey and I am glad 76 holes of golf were part of that journey.

I love Don’t Stop Believing. One of the all time great dance songs. I guess some people just want to focus on the golf, but I love listening to some good music while writing :)

Who's gonna play next year?
Foghat, maybe?

Elvis ? Michael Jackson ? Tupac ? JFK ? (those Kennedy’s had some mad karaoke skeelz) :-)

Frankly, I would like to see Foreigner next year – and the looks of confusion on thousands who can’t tell apart them from Journey.
