Finally, Steve Marino is Making Me Look Like a Genius
If you read my fantasy golf column each week, it has become a borderline joke that I recommend Steve Marino almost every week. I've been saying that he is due for a win this year on Tour. He had a really good chance at it in New Orleans before ultimately losing to sponsor mastermind Jerry Kelly.
Now, he is alone in the lead in the Open Championship on -5 135 after two rounds. He shot 67 in perfect conditions yesterday and backed it up with a relatively-blistering 68 today. This is the first time that Marino has lead a major championship.
I cannot tell you how conflicted I feel about all of this. I've never picked him in a major championship, including this one, so it wasn't like I can bring down the "I Called It!" banner. At the same time, I've had the gut feeling that he was due to win one this season.
Needless to say, I'll be pulling for Marino over the weekend.
Here's his 20 seconds with OpenGolf.com and his three minute video with golf.com.
