Some Great Links (& Video) for Your Links Golf Enjoyment
It is the only time of the year when I can make a links golf pun like that and I'm going to take full advantage. As a reward for putting up with my punniness (not puniness), here are some good links to enjoy before the Open begins tomorrow.
To make up for us flag-waving, HD-watching Americans having to endure the BBC's standard definition feed for the Open Championship, TNT will be streaming its full coverage of the Open on the Internet on PGA.com starting tomorrow. There are three channels in total.
Andy Brown's Home of Golf TV (link on the sidebar) is wonderful site in which Andy does regular video features that explore interesting aspects of links golf, particularly in St. Andrew's. To get you pumped for the Open, spend some time with Andy in the Road Hole bunker.
There's news that Tiger will likely try to forego his driver at Turnberry this week. If the results are anything like Royal Aberdeen in 2006 - a very burnt out course in comparison to lush Turnberry - then Woods will hoist his fourth Claret Jug.
The Japanese fan base seems pretty amped to have Ryo Ishikawa paired with Tiger Woods for the first two days.
Over at relative newcomer The Good Point, Mark Farmer recalls some of the history behind Turnberry's Alisa Course.
Do yourself a favor and read Steve Elling's profile of the comeback of David Duval. Given Duval was in contention halfway through last year's Open, Elling's thorough report is well worth the read.
Finally, a video of Turnberry to whet the whistle. A virtual video. Imagine you - yes, YOU - playing Turnberry in the Open Championship British Major Championship. You can, with Tiger Woods 2010 for your favorite video game system!
