Tomy Romo & John Boehner? Is Tiger Trying to Get Booed?
We've known this for some time now, but Tiger Woods is playing in the AT&T National Pro-Am today with Dallas Cowboys Quarterback (& Jessica Simpson survivor) Tony Romo as well as House Minority Leader (& total idiot) John Boehner (R - OH).
In other words, Tiger is playing with the quarterback of the team that the fans on the course hate probably just below Osama bin Laden. He is also playing with the Republican leader in the House, whose Q-rating is lower than that of the now-canceled Best Damn Sports Show Period.

As Dan Steinberg notes in the DC Sports Bog, the chorus is ready to boo.
"Oh, I'm gonna definitely boo him," said one extremely well-respected member of Congressional, who, being a Washingtonian, asked that her name not be used. "This is Redskins territory. It's like the Yankees; you hate the Yankees, and you hate the Cowboys. I might have to wear a Redskins shirt."
"It's a matter of principle," added another Congressional member, who ALSO requested anonymity. "He's basically asking for it, showing his face here."
Barker Davis noted that Tiger could have played in the hero group. Instead, that went to Mike Weir, who is playing with Redskins QB Jason Campbell, Capitals Coach Bruce Boudreau, and Redskins WR Antwaan Randle El.

I can understand how Romo got picked – he’s a Nike guy and was part of the US Open thing. But how did Boehner get picked ? How did Chairman Mao-bama not get in on this deal ?
Careful with the Q-rating stuff. That is generated largely by the media – and the media hates all things political with an “R” in front of them.
Sounds like the DC galleries are going to be following in the low-life shoes of the New York crowds. I hope the boo’s for Romo are good natured…but I wouldn’t bet the mortgage on that.

hey WAIT a minute – I just re-read what you wrote – you mean Bin Laden has been playing QB in the NFL all these years ? No WONDER we haven’t been able to find him…we’re looking in the wrong country. :-D

Man, could you knock it off with the....
…Mao-bama stuff? I know it’s all in good humor, but Mao was directly responsible for an untold number of deaths. I was equally offended when the left used BusHitler.
As for the boos for Romo: he was interviewed on xxx Golf Channel and seemed to handle the boos with a fair amount of class. Credit to him. (I still hate the Cowboys, though, and I’m not even a ’Skins fan.)
And as for Boehner: yeah, he’s an idiot, but I hear he plays to about a 7 handicap. Pretty good for a sitting member of Congress. Assuming Tiger got to pick his partners today, he could’ve done worse.

Yeah – the fans were great – good natured boo’s. Sounded like they were having fun out there.
How about dressing Tiger in Cowboys colors ? That was hilarious. He said he didn’t realize it until he got to the first tee.
I didn’t see a single clip of Boehner – starting a pro-am at 6:30 in the morning ? – and please, god, never let anyone invite Jessica Simpson to sing the national anthem ever again…wear that dress all she wants…just no more singing. :-)

The quotes from the Congressional members are outstanding.
I have to hand it to DC – they support the hell out of the Redskins. And if that means booing Romo (and, by extension, Tiger), then so be it.
Great football town. Lord love ’em.
