Michael Sim Goes For Third & Final N'Wide Win in 2009 This Week
Recently, we did a small article on Michael Sim who is dominating the Nationwide Tour this season. He has two wins and a playoff loss this year with a tie for 30th last weekend in North Carolina. He leads the money list for the Tour by $211,000 over Garth Mulroy. And, he's in Maryland this week for the Melwood Prince George's County Open.
Sim's story has grown in popularity in golf circles given his achievements and the Nationwide Tour folks brought Sim in for a pre-event press conference. Thanks to our friends at the Tour, we got two questions in with Michael. They're read by Tour official Kin Lo as he talks about what he's doing to prepare for his trip to the PGA Tour next season and the pressure of trying to win for a third time on the Nationwide Tour.
Listen to our audio with Michael Sim! It's about 2 minutes.
Through the first round, it appears that Sim is definitely in the right frame of mind. Play was suspended due to weather in our area, but Sim was two off of the lead of Cameron Piercy after a first round of -6.

he's off to a good start
Sim is 6 under after his first round – two shots behind the leader. Looks like he’s raring to get that promotion.
Hey RB – how about being a better host up there – rain delay on Thursday stopped play in the first round ? :-D

The weather has been terrible here for like the last month and a half. Just rain and more rain. I play kickball on Wednesdays and football on Saturdays. BOTH have had more than half of the season rained out.

And no play today at all! The rain here lately has just been constant, day after day. Are you going out to Woodmore on Saturday or Sunday? The weather somehow looks like it’s going to be perfect. Wonder if they still plan to get all 72 in (would have to do 36 on Sunday, since Round 1 won’t even be complete until tomorrow morning!)

I’m guess they try to reduce to 54 to make it count officially. Could do what they did several years ago in the Henrico County Open and suspend the event until a later point in the year.
