Tiger's Niece, Cheyenne Woods, Shoots 75 in LPGA Debut

Tiger Woods niece, Cheyenne Woods, playing as an amateur, made her LPGA debut at the Wegmans LPGA Tour event on Thursday by shooting a three-over 75.  Miss Woods is a 19-year old rising sophomore at Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem, NC.  To date she has maintained a low profile, tending to her books and her golf.

Among Wake Forest golfer alums are Arnold Palmer, Lanny Wadkins, Bill Haas and a number more.

Hopefully the media will give measured coverage rather than going into their self-serving mode.

Thanks for the update. I had forgotten to check scores up there today with no TV coverage.

Pretty sure the tournament people are disagreeing with your hope that the media will go easy on her. She was invited to draw attention to the tournament, but she really doesn’t have any business being there.

I know you’ll be shocked – she has a 1:16 tee time, two groups after Michelle Wie. xxx Golf Channel will be drooling for any opportunity to put Woods and Wie on display.

gc may be drooling

But it’s ESPN2 that has the rights.

Truth has a well-known liberal bias.

Good luck to her. She’s a pretty big shadow looming over her. I hope she enjoys the experience

Does anyone know why Sam

Saunders, Arnie’s grandson, opted for Clemson? That’s like me rooting for the Redskins..

pronounced "Clemp-sn"

Have you seen the women at Clemson ? :-)

I don’t know how much it has to do with it – but Wake is a MUCH more academic institution than Clemson. (not that Clemson is a bad school for academics – they are well up the ladder in computer sciences) Clemson is also a much better golf school right now. (see the guy holding the US Open trophy)

If he was my grandfather, I’m not sure I would want to go to the same university as The King – that’s a lot of pressure.

RB, if you look it up

in the dictionary under MAINSTREAM MEDIA; one of the definitions is “going into self-serving mode”…

Hmm – maybe she really IS her uncle’s niece - missed the first fairway in the right rough. :)

Nice golf swing – very smooth

ok – not sure how I did that – but that line isn’t supposed to be marked out.
