If I Can Do Sock Puppets, Then the PGA of America Can Use Cartoon Network
There was a rather benign story that came across the wire yesterday about Turner Sports and the PGA of America agreeing to extend their contract through 2019. Some in the industry may have found that surprising since it appeared that Turner may abdicate its major championship coverage in light of ESPN picking up the Open Championship.
But, there was one hell of a buried lede at the end of the AP article.
Turner's Cartoon Network Enterprises will also handle the PGA's licensing deals for products aimed at young fans.
I'm not even sure what products could be aimed at young fans for golf, but Cartoon Network is now handling products for young fans? Cartoon Network - the home for adult stoners with the munchies and children who have an affinity for cartoons ten times weirder than Ren & Stimpy - will be marketing golf to kids.
Maybe they can slip in a golf reference into their 15 minute claymation show, Robot Chicken? (It's actually damn funny. No, I'm not a stoner.)
Or, how about putting a golf club in the "hands" of the milkshake character, Master Shake, on Aqua Teen Hunger Force? Wait? They already did? In a video game? I present to you: Aqua Teen Hunger Force: Zombie Ninja Pro-Am.

Come ON, RB – a TIGER MAN cartoon doesn’t jump right out at you ? Personally, I’d prefer a Monkee’s type of show with a few of the guys…but that’s just me. :-)
Davey Jones – Rory Sabbatini (little guy with an accent)
Peter Tork –
Mike Nesmith –
Mickey Dolenz -
(by the way – Peter Tork is battling cancer for the second time)
"this ball will fit in that fairway"

It’s funny that you bring up the Monkees. My fiance’s college friend is friends with Mickey Dolenz’ daughter. Both are very nice people.
