Play Has Been Suspended for the Day at US Open
AS OF 2pm ET - PLAY IS CANCELED FOR TODAY AT THE US OPEN
I went out to the course out of sheer boredom to see what the conditions were like for the Open. They're not good. I saw 1 and 18. That was all I needed. I took a little video of one tee and green, and 18 green, and I was pretty sure that we're not going to play today. Even with the squeegees, we were not looking at very good conditions.
While I was out there, I picked up one of those American Express CourseCast radio devices to listen to the Sirius/XM coverage. It helped me drown out the people asking me if I was John Daly. I'm not that fat, people.
Anyway, the guys on Sirius/XM had USGA VP Jim Hyler on to talk about the supposed window today. He said that he thought there was a four hour window today to play. Perhaps that will be true after the rain stops - in terms of daylight. But I cannot imagine there being much time to actually play golf.
Hyler said it would take the crew about an hour to get the course all set up and ready for play once they decide it is ok to resume. I guess that's not happening now.

The weather could make havoc of this tournament.
I’m now expecting a Monday finish, with or without a playoff. The forecast would indicate a significant likelihood of more delays over the weekend.
