Sergio Garcia Needs a Rebound Girlfriend
The news came out yesterday that Sergio Garcia is no longer dating Greg Norman's daughter, Morgan-Leigh, and that he feels it has taken a serious toll on his golf game.
As Homer Simpson would say, "Splitsville - Population: You"
As Shane Bacon points out over at Fanhouse, Garcia said before the Masters that he didn't think he could win. As I'll point out, he said at the Players that he wasn't really enjoying the game. And I'll throw it back to Shane for these '09 Garcia lowlites:
This is the first time since 2003 that Garcia has gone through the end of May on the PGA Tour without a top-10 finish (he is 0-for-7 so far in '09).
Garcia, who lives and dies by the putter, is 114th in putting average this season and 167th in putts per round.
Ouch. But, Sergio tried to explain it all on the eve of the European Open.
"I definitely feel much better, happier on the course, and I'm definitely more looking forward to playing than maybe I was a month or two ago," Garcia said on the eve of the European Open at the London Club in Kent.
"I haven't been hitting the ball well. I think it's been a mix of probably being a little bit down and not really feeling like playing much. Obviously your head is not in the right place and you're not thinking the right things, and that affects your game because your mentality is not where it should be."
Folks, that is the Spanish equivalent of an emo kid. What is an emo kid, you ask? Check out the Urban Dictionary to get a flavor of the variety of definitions. All in jest, of course. Break ups stink.
Stephanie Wei knows this - who doesn't? - but also has some advice for Sergio on how to get over Morgan-Leigh.
I’ve heard there are other ways to channel stressful and emotional situations. You know, like yoga, therapy, gurus, drinking, Vegas, etc. And I’m sure there’s a long waiting list of ladies that would be more than happy to
be his rebounddate him (get on that, Golf Girl!).
Golf Girl, you got called out in both posts that I saw about Sergio's break up. I think that makes a plurality of the golfing public and, therefore, you should go out on a date with Sergio Garcia and fulfill a lifelong eleven-year long (he's only 29, folks) dream.
Can you tell it's a slow news day?

He's smiling a bit too hard in the pic.
Once again, there’s a “taking too long to hit it” joke there somewhere. I don’t think Sergio will have any problem finding a rebound girl.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure that Sergio won’t be hurting for too long. But blaming your poor play on a break up is blasphemy.

My bad. Colin Montgomerie's the singer on British American Idol.
He really needs to cut back his hair.
