Some Quick Golf Links from Geoff Shackelford
Geoff Shackelford finds some great stuff that I sometimes don't get to share with everyone here or feel like I'd be blatantly ripping off of him if I share too many of them. I don't like either circumstance much, so here's a post with links to stuff that Geoff found that I really found interesting.
Here's an ad you don't see everyday - On LPGA.com, there's apparently a Russian Bride sale going on. Whoops.
Chad Campbell hits balata like a sissy - This from Bill Nichols' Dallas Morning News notes column:
Curt Sampson, working on a story for Sports Illustrated, drew a crowd on the practice range when he unveiled a MacGregor Byron Nelson persimmon driver. Everybody wanted to hit it. Vijay Singh went the longest at 253 yards, one yard farther than Colleyville's Chad Campbell. Campbell, who swings like Ben Hogan, managed a carry of 232 yards using an old balata ball.
Steve Elling takes a crack at explaining the recent run of European Tour amateur wins at CBS Sports. He pretty much validates my points with quotes. Pretty nice.
Cheers to Shaqc for the good finds!

I actually met a Russian mail order bride a couple of years ago – and she was STUNNING !!!!!! Very sweet – probably in her late 20’s – they had been married several years and were in the middle of having their first baby.
Ok – more bad writing from Texas. GEEZ – the article says that Campbell was second – one yard behind Vijay Singh, who hit it 253 yards – which means that Campbell hit his ball 252 yards – BUT – bright boy writes that Campbell’s ball CARRIED 232 yards, so it had 20 yards of roll. Idiot. Pick one or the other – but don’t mix apples and oranges. Carry and distance aren’t the same thing unless the ball sticks in the ground every time.
I’m done with Steve Elling. Helluva nice guy – but come on.
