Amy Mickelson Has Breast Cancer
Phil Mickelson has suspended his PGA Tour schedule indefinitely after his wife, Amy, was diagnosed with breast cancer, the agency representing him announced Wednesday.
According to the release from Gaylord Sports Management, Amy Mickelson's treatment process is expected to begin with major surgery, possibly within the next two weeks. More tests are scheduled, according to the release.
Mickelson was scheduled to play the HP Byron Nelson Championship beginning Thursday and defend his Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial title next week.
I am a cancer survivor myself. Based on this news, I'd be surprised if Lefty is back before late summer, more likely not at all for the rest of 2009.
God bless the Mickelsons.

This is awful news. I know Amy has shared her struggles with child birth and her health. I wish the Mickelsons the best.

This is really unfortunate
It is such a terrible thing to get breast cancer, especially when it happens to such great people. I am sure it was caught at the right time and will be handled with the utmost professional care.
Golf is not going to be the same for the time that Good Ol’ Lefty is not in the mix.
Hope for the best.
