Can You Ever Be Damned in a Good Way?
The past couple of weeks have been tough ones for me as my name has become the scourge of several of my blogging buddies. (That sitcom would be a lot better than Bosom Buddies.)
Take a look for yourself.
One-Eyed Golfer made a post entitled "Damn you, Ryan Ballengee." But, it was good because it was how much OEG loved coming to the site. I mean, it was bad because his date was ruined, but good for the site. OEG had a follow up post this weekend calling me rakish. That's awfully flattering!
Then, Heather Jones of Real Women Golf and my cohort in TANG Golfing had a similar damning post. This time, at least I had an accomplice. "Damn Ryan Ballengee & Keyboard Cat" talks about how the Jones clan has become enamored with the feline sensation. I must say, I felt good about that one.
I'm kind of getting used to damn in front of my name. Maybe that could have been my nickname if I hadn't always posted as my real name? Maybe a change to my Twitter name is forthright - @damnryanballengee?

ONLY if you can juggle better than Tom Hanks
Apparently that Damn Ryan Ballangee is doing some damn fine work if I do say so my damn self. :-D
(by the way – saw “Angles and Demons” over the weekend – definitely worth seeing, but check your sense of spacial relations, geometry, and flight capabilities at the door for the end of the movies – VERY exciting finish)

I’m in the process of trying to read through the book right now. I needed a break from the golf books I had been reading in succession!

I stopped reading books first then going to see the movie when I find out about them at the same time. The books almost invariably have a lot more than can fit into a movie, so there is that disappointment in the movie. There are only 2 exceptions that I have seen, and oddly enough, both are Stephen King stories – “Stand By Me” and “The Shawshank Redemption.” Both are short stories. The worst book first then movie was “The Silence of the Lambs.” The book was incredible, and the movie just couldn’t do it justice even with Anthony Hopkins’ performance as Lecter.

Court, SOTL's is one of
my all time favorite movies and I did not read the book thinking it would not do the movie justice, though I did read Harris’ other books.
Thanks. I’ll get it today

you didn’t think the book would do the movie justice ?
by the way – Hopkins as Lecter is THE greatest movie villain of all time. If I hadn’t read the book before seeing the movie, I would probably be right there with you, but I screwed up.

Hopkins was INCREDIBLE in that role. He was one scary dude.

What's a movie?
You folks obviously don’t have children.
Ryan, the “Damn” is like being TP’d— definitely a form of flattery.
