I Qualified for the US Open! Yeah!
That's what I would be saying if I was good enough to make it through local and sectional qualifying for the US Open at Bethpage. Unfortunately, my handicap index and talent level are not at the right proportion in order to even get in a local qualifier. But, Fanhouse Golf's Shane Bacon is that good. So he tried local qualifying.
Shane didn't make it into sectionals in his round on Monday. The field of 96 was playing for six spots. But, Shane gives a very good account of his story and himself in his piece. He also talks about his playing partners and the professional advice that they shared or he overheard.
And - here's the awkward part - both of his playing partners qualified for sectionals. One-third of the qualifiers came from his group.
I wasn't really sure how to end the post after that. But, I found out a new and exciting Internet trend to help with this very thing. It's called Keyboard Cat.
Keyboard Cat "plays off" various Internet failures with a weird Muzak song and an even more bizarre shirt, helping to deflect some of the awkwardness. If you haven't seen it, it's really, really hysterical.
So, without further adieu...
By the way, this is not intended as a slant at all at Shane. He is a really good golfer. He has played professional events with some success. I just really wanted to make this video.

I hadn't heard of Keyboard Cat
But after a little YouTubing, I don’t know why, but I find it inexplicably funny.

I can’t explain why I think it’s funny either. It just makes me laugh, so I went with it :)

I should be putting the kids to bed...
..instead Hubbie and I can’t stop pulling up Keyboard Cat videos—and we thought the Star Wars groupies Triumph interviewed were geeks!
You have to check out the China Town one.
(We are doing one more, then I swear the kids are going to bed).

The teenager tantrum
…was a good one too. That one was really, really awkward until keyboard cat saved the day.

Totally true. VERY awkward. Also, the nunchuck to the groin one.
