Postcard from the One Eyed Golfer

Welcome to our weekly links post that features a blog in the golfblogospheroid.  This week, it's the One Eyed Golfer.  I know OEG and he operates a golf store around where I live.  He plays golf where I played my high school golf.  He and his son went to my high school.  Small world, huh?

Speaking of his blog, OEG has a good post up about the continued disparity of race in professional golf and just how difficult it is for minority players to make it.

Jay Busbee is back with his weekly podcast and has NBC Sports' Jimmy Roberts on the show.  I'll have Jimmy on The 19th Hole next week and I pray that he'll do a trademark essay about me on air.

The newer Sling blog features lots of videos and does more pop culture.  But, they do some golf too.  They provide some video insight into the many extremely rich members of Augusta National.

Heather Jones of Real Women Golf ponders why so many men take off their wedding band before they play golf.  I hoped to find a good excuse there for when I get married one day.

I love checking out Golf in Context from time to time.  It's a portfolio of photography by Robert Matre that is stunning.  There are some great Augusta National pictures.

Finally, with my obligatory Tiger-related link, Bob Smiley has gotten a hold of a transcript from a secret meeting of players that have had knee surgery in the past few years, but still stink.  How's that 3 year plan coming, Ernie?

lol – come on Heather. Men put the game first and the jewelry second in most cases. We don’t want the skin pinch that comes with a wide band. Unlike women, who build entire wardrobes around a piece of jewlery ! :-)

the REAL question is – why do women wear so many rings and bracelets when you play golf ? Doesn’t it mess up the rings with the grip grunge ?

Grip grunge..ewwwww

Gross Court! Good thing I already decided not to wear my rings on the course.

Here’s the problem, I’m barely wearing my rings at all right now because I usually plan to play or hit the range sometime during my day. I received some great comments at my shop on the story. I might try the necklace with the rings thing, but I think that would bug me too. I’m so easily distracted. I can’t even manage dangly earrings when I play. Damn Patricia for being hot and being able to wear dangly earrings on the course. :o)

ummm – well…I’d have to put you in the “hot” catagory, too. You’re probably more in the “play good first – look good second” group. I don’t get the dangly earring thing, either. Some of them are so long – I’m surprised you don’t hear stories of women getting wacked in the eye with them.

I didn’t, but I got tix for the White Sox series. I went to high school with Gavin Floyd – hoping to see him pitch.

Going minor leagues this year

the Richmond Braves just got moved down here – so I’m going to the whole home opener weekend – Triple A…where the players actually give a damn ! :-)
